These appear to be nice quality, but I am writing one-star review because sadly the product is description is wrong. It is listed as 13 inches wide, but at most (from the very end-to-end measurement) they are 12-3/4 inches. In the middle of the hooks (where they should rest on the frame) it is more like 12 to 12-1/4 inches. So I bought these on Amazon on a recent trip back to the States. I’ve now returned to Kenya where I live…and now I’m stuck with these, and they’re too short. Very frustrating that companies can’t have the right product descriptions.Read more

As background: Awhile back I bought the extra sturdy extra wide Pendaflex folders – the extra wide ones have been lasting fine and are doing what they need to do, but for some filing needs the extra wide pendaflexes take up too much room. -So I bought the regular sized Pendaflexes, which is the item I am reviewing here. Underscore: the regular size pendaflexes are being used for LIGHT filing. I still have extra wide pendaflexes for bulkier filing. Re this item, the regular pendaflexes: On the very first day of use (less than an hour of use!) one paper side of one pendaflex gave out completely by simply tearing/falling apart at (and only at) both metal hanging parts. See photos. You can see there is hardly any wear anywhere on the folder except the tears where the pendaflex paper meets the metal on the one side. The other side is fine. The metal didn’t bend or break but the pendaflex paper simply tore off the metal hanging part (on only one side). I hardly ever write one star reviews, but I hope the quality is better on the rest of the box. If they all are defectively weak like this then they’re useless. My husband says I can use moving tape to repair the pendaflex since the metal isn’t broken, so hopefully not a total loss. Sad, these used to be great. Generic probably no worse than this! This is the 2nd batch of hanging file folders I’ve ordered and these also don’t fit the file cabinet I have. I’m not sure what the struggle is about getting the right size but so far, I’ve not been able to count on the correct measurements. Be sure if you order hanging files that the measurement from edge to edge of the hanging brackets are the length you need. Just ordering a letter size hanging file folder WILL NOT guarantee it is the correct size. If even off (short) by a 1/2″ and they will not work in some file drawers. These seem like sturdy folders and I like the fun colors, but they are useless if they don’t fit. Now I have a whole box of 25 of these folders that don’t work and b/c I took then out of the shipping box and put them aside before I tried them out, I can no longer return. Into the garbage or to Goodwill they go. Sooooo, frustrating.Read more

I have been using Pendaflex hanging file folders for years, and these ones are not as heavy duty as others I have used. The paper is thinner and the metal is more flexible. I actually got one caught on my file box while loading it and bent the metal piece because it was so soft and flexible. It bent right back no problem and can still be used. Despite these being designed for more lightweight use, they are strong enough and will work great in my home office. The color is beautiful. I used a flash, so they may be a little bit darker in real life, but the photo is pretty accurate. I would order these again for my home office, but I would go with the stronger Pendaflex files if ordering for my workplace.Read more

So, these folders are made of 100% recycled fiber; sounds good, right? Um, NOPE. These file folders are shockingly inferior to their standard, less-eco counterparts; truly, I don’t know how they even made it to the market. These folders are downright scrawny in terms of both the paper weight AND the metal hooks. The paper is exceedingly thin; it comes nowhere close to the weight of my previous Pendaflex file folders. Even the metal hooks are shoddy; they’re not nearly as substantial as my standard folders. It would be mighty easy to accidentally bend or break the hooks. Finally, the colors are unimaginably dull. The rest of my hanging folders are bright and bold; these poor recycled folders look clinically depressed in comparison. Bottom line: unless you’re a dyed-in-the-wool recycler (only natural dyes, of course!), and are single-minded in your zeal for tree hugging, I’d suggest you steer clear. (Mine are SO getting returned!)Read more

These are great. The folders themselves are sturdy, a nice thickness without being too big, and the different colors helps add some flair to the task of filing, as well as giving you another step of organization should you so desire. They work great, definitely worthwhile. Just make sure you have the right height to the sides of your file drawers, or a file frame, lest you be caught like I was realizing you need one before you can actually use them! All in all though a great product, definitely worth a buy if you need some!Read more
