This made transferring data from old computer to new one SO much easier and quicker. The software is easy and quick to download and works flawlessly. You simply install it on both machines and then connect the cable and follow the onscreen instructions. It took about an hour and a half to copy all files and data across, nothing was lost. In the past this process has sometimes taken me days to do! The original files remain on the donor machine until you choose to remove them. Please note it does NOT copy programs or software, you will need to install them on new machine from original disks or downloads. A simple user guide is included and there is a helpful video to see the process in action.Read more

Installed the software on two Win 10 PCs and connected them using the cable. All completed by synching, as recommended. “Donor” PC is fine but the PC intended for the copy will now not boot. No operating system detected. Therefore, this thing has wiped it’s hard drive! Not amused at all. At least I have bootable u.s.b. with Win 10 on it to use and start from scratch.Read more

Works OK at typical USB 3.0 speed. The Bravura Easy Computer Sync software installed OK in Windows 10, but initially failed to connect the 2 PCs until both were re-booted; thereafter all worked fine. I have since had one large file transfer fail using drag & drop due to a disconnect and discovered that the software would not re-connect until both computers were re-booted and after using different USB 3.0 sockets as suggested in ‘Help’ it worked fine. Transfer speeds are much better than my network connection achieves so, overall, worth the money.Read more

It works but is actually an unethical bait and switch. You are buying a cable thinking you are buying a high-speed transfer solution (eg. hardware AND software) for your computers right? That’s what this product leads you to believe you are buying. What you are really buying is just the hardware. It comes with a “30 day free trial” watered down version of the software and directs you to website where you are can then purchase the software for more money. So the hidden and unethical proposition is what you are buying now will be completely useless in 30 days, unless you fork over some more money. In terms of functionality, it does work and it is fast and easy. I was getting anywhere from 100MBs to 240MBs transfer rates (using some SSDs). I t’s appears easy to use in it’s automated “just make me an image/full copy” modes. I used the drag drop which is a little too basic. For example if a file can’t be copied over because it’s already open or the filename is too long (some kind of windows issue), the whole transfer will stop and require you to click “continue” form a dialog. Unlike windows copy that also asks if you “want to do the same for the next X files” this has no such feature and will stop for each and every file with a problem. So in drag and drop mode, you have to babysit.Read more

Requires you to download and install new software, which comes crippled right out of the box. To uncripple the software, you have to register and pay extra, otherwise you are stuck with a device that is so cumbersome it is useless. I returned it, and am sorry that I wasted my time on it.Read more

I got this thinking that it would make transferring data from my old laptop to my new one. I also paid MORE than what is advertised on the manufacturer’s site that is to include software necessary to use the product. I cannot register the software as I do not have a product key, though it came with a CD ROM that supposedly has one. So, I can only use limited features though I have paid MORE than advertised by Bravura. I am extremely upset and likely returning this item as I think it is a scam.Read more

Product key on cord is recognized as invalid and software must be repurchased through company website. Program only recognizes certain files to transfer and only in main drive, not subfolders such as documents, pictures, videos, etc. Unethical advertising.Read more

So the major plus about this cable is that it is fairly easy to use. You can get the software from Plugable’s website or the email they send you through Amazon and the license key should be attached to the calbe itself. Install the software on both computers, ensure that the cables are plugged into USB 3.0+ ports and follow the software steps at the same time and you should be fine. I had to close it down the first time and move ports and I was good. The software is very intuitive if you commonly use a WIndows OS, with its general layout and features similar to WIndows/File Explorer. There are also features for completely copying your whole system to the new computer–but I’d probably just stick to the drag-and-drop feature to avoid any system issues. My only complaint is that transfer speeds are merely average for USB 3.0. Transferring a large amount of files seems to max out at about 300-400 Megabytes/sec (different from Giga- or MegaBITS/sec which is what most websites will list speeds under) which is well below the *theoretical* speeds for USB 3.0 (about 640 MBs/sec). To be fair to Plugable I don’t believe most companies really strive for that theoretical max speed and Plugable does note on their site a general speed they achieved at transferring 10GB between machines (took them about 3 mins). However, I do wonder what speeds their USB 2.0 cable reaches (the speeds on this cable are the theoretical speeds for 2.0), which is NOT listed on their site, and if the $10 price increase on the 3.0 is really worth it. Still, this beats having to transfer to an external USB drive and then onto the new computer.Read more

This is a great product. It’s so much faster than any other method for transferring files. I initially tried using a USB 2.0 flash drive and that was taking forever. USB 3.0 flash drive would have been faster than the USB 2.0 but I don’t think it would match the cable speed especially if you’re moving large amounts of files. So after receiving the cable, I downloaded the software, loaded it on both computers and plugged in the cable. Both computers immediately recognized the connection and brought up the menu. I wasn’t interested in syncing the new computer with the old one, I wanted to get rid of a lot of junk on the old computer and start fresh on the new one. Couldn’t find instructions on how to do this but after awhile I found the drag and drop feature and I was able to move files and folders just where I wanted them. On drag and drop you have the option to see all your files and folders by turning on the see hidden files feature. Once you do this you can transfer any folders or files. As plugable points out, you can’t copy installed programs from one computer to the other, but you can copy the setup or install files so you can install them on the new computer. This cable and software is a big time saver. Great product. I’ve had other plugable products and only had a problem with one. They responded immediately and sent a replacement product. Great company, products and customer service as well as value for the money.Read more

Shame on Microsoft that a 3rd party company has to show them how to make things simple!. Since Windows XP when setting up a wired network was very straight forward, every version of Windows has made it more and more complicated and messy to set up a simple wired network. (wired = SECURE) And even when it is set up, it’s flakey to say the least. Even the clunky Windows Homegroup which worked after a fashion has now been dropped with the latest update. Anyways, THIS works and works well. Don’t hesitate if you need a PC to PC wired connection for excellent speed of transfer (the USB 3.0 version anyways). Well done Plugable!Read more

In the past I have upgraded my hard disk several times, and used the old HD in an external caddy to copy files directly to the new HD once installed in my windows7 laptop. Now, I wanted to copy all my files from my old Win7 computer to a new Win 10 machine. I used this cable, the software and the drag-&-drop method. It was easy and worked perfectly. The cable itself seems well made and has a good quality feel. The software came on a mini CD so I merely downloaded it directly to each laptop from the Plugable website, using the URL given in the instructions that came with the cable. The software installed and opened on each laptop with no difficulty, and copying the large numbers of files I wanted was straightforward and efficient. On my old machine I had a C: partition for my software and an E: partition for my files. The online instructions for the software suggested that using the automated option to copy my files across might put my old E: drive into the C: drive of my new computer. I did not test that, I was in a hurry, so I just used drag-and-drop, having created C: and E: partitians on my new laptop (using EasUS Partition master, a great piece of software that I have been using for a few years). It follows standard windows features, in that you can select multiple folders at once and then drag and drop. The interface was straightforward and I am very happy.Read more
