I needed a powered USB hub to add to my Mac. Only 4 hubs. Nothing too expensive. However, I wanted the best bang for the buck. I didn’t want to overspend on a name brand if I didn’t have to. After researching different hubs on Amazon for about 30 minutes, I stumbled upon this little guy that though it didn’t have a lot of purchase history, it was rated well. At the time of purchase, there were only 5 reviews and they were all five 5-star. That was enough to motivate me to blindly purchase this hub. There really is nothing exceptional about this hub other than the fact that it works exceptionally well. I mean, it’s well constructed but it doesn’t look fancy. It’s small. It’s simple. It’s the kind of thing you keep hidden away than out in the open. What I like about this hub is that it has on/off switches on every input. Why is this a great thing? With every USB device you plug into one of these hubs, it draws power and resources from your computer. You may not want 4 devices running at once. So, instead of plugging and unplugging each device you don’t want to use, you instead just turn off a corresponding switch. Much easier! To date, no problems with this USB device. Every port works. It seems like it’s going to hold up long-term. The only negative I can give is that the power plug has a very bright red light on it. If you can’t hide it, it’s going to cause some illumination issues. In all, yet another 5-star review for a great hub that you might have otherwise passed by for a name-brand. Go for this instead!Read more

Using this because our TCL Roku TV is not able to power a large (4TB) external drive. We previously had a 500g hard drive connected directly to the tv and watched videos using the Roku Media Player app. That worked fine until we found we had the need for a larger storage hard drive. I bought a 4tb drive to accommodate all our files, but Roku Media Player would not recognize it. I Googled “hard drive not recognized?”, and the most common problem seemed to be that the tv source could not power the drive and therefore needed a powered usb hub to provide enough power. Hoping this would solve that problem, I ordered this. Perfect solution. Easy set up. Plug hub into an outlet, and the other end into the usb port of the tv. Plug hard drive into one of the powered ports on the hub. Works perfectly. Each port has it’s own on-off button. There is a blue light at each port that indicates if the port is on or off, so it’s visually easy to tell if there’s power to a port. Only one slight con that might be a problem, is that the buttons that turn each port of/off are pretty easily pushed. Murphy’s Law means you only find this out once you’ve settled down to watch a movie. I’ve solved this problem by just tucking the hub back behind the tv where it won’t inadvertently get touched, but if you need to place it out in the open, just be aware and visually keep tabs on it. * * Update Jan 2020 * * Since purchasing one of these, I have purchased 3 more to use with Roku products. The most recent is being used with a TV that is not a Roku TV. I purchased a Roku Ultra device and am using this powered USB hub to power an external drive and watch videos via the Roku Media Player app. Nothing but happy with this product.Read more

UPDATE: 12/02/2020 The company contacted me via email and wanted me to send me a new device stating that they had an 18 month warranty, which is different than the 12 month I had read in my original packaging. Being well within 18 months (13) I am giving 5 stars for customer service and the fact that even though all the LED’s on the first unit have failed, all the USB ports still work. Thank you RSHTECH, Please keep up the awesome customer service. I wish more were like you. Some just don’t care anymore. This is now one of my newest and favorite pieces of tech, basic as it is. I can now turn off my devices that are connected to it. Data throughput seems on par with my other devices. In a world of USB devices that don’t have switches this is awesome. UPDATE: about 2 months ago two of the LEDs went out. The ports still work but now I have to go by sight if they are on or off. Knocked off one star. To bad I didn’t read the card I just found in the box, 12 month warranty, but 1 month to late. Anyway, still a decent product and preforms well. I must have imaged 100’s of Linux distro’s (okay, maybe a 100). One other hing I have found over the last year is I wish it had a much longer USB Type C cable. UPDATE: 11/23/20 All the power LEDs have stopped working. First it was 3and 4, now 1 and 2. Sometimes when I press the first one the second LED turns on for a second. Seems like some pretty poor soldering/parts. It still works for data but I have taken off 2 stars since there must be better.Read more

I have a Focusrite USB interface, a 4TB USB HDD, an Epson scanner and an Epson printer plugged into this unit. I’ve had USB hubs that forced me to power down my MacBook Air before the HDD would mount. However, this unit is absolutely flawless! I rarely turn off my Mac so I need to access my accessories when I plug in the hub without having to restart my computer. This unit does exactly what I need it to do. Great unit! UPDATE: A little over 6 months after buying, using, and loving this unit, three of the USB ports failed. 2 of the power LEDs quit working along with their associated ports and one port quit while its LED does still light up. I can’t find any customer service info so I cannot directly contact them so I’m hoping they respond to this update with contact information. 6 months is a bit short for it to work in my opinion.Read more

Compact little USB hub with individual switches per port and vertical orientation like I wanted. Problem is I ordered this to use with four 8bitdo Bluetooth adapters, and after plugging them in quickly realized my controllers no longer worked unless I was a foot or two away. Thinking the adapters were too close together I only plugged one in, and had the exact same issue. Switching to a different USB hub restored the normal 30+ foot range, so I can only assume this one was generating some kind of EMF that affected the 2.4ghz range.Read more

the power supply was always loose in every house I brought it. It seems it was being powered by my laptop instead of the power supply. Today (5 days after return warranty) it just overheated and messed up the usb key I had in there which is an ilok.. What a mess..Read more
