It’s good but there are a few tips you really need to follow in order to get the most out of your cold brew. -Pour your coffee grinds in the middle strainer only about 2/3rds full. -Slowly add your water on top of them. When the pitcher is about 2/3rds full of water stop pouring. -Grab a long spoon or utensil and stir around the coffee grounds well. You will notice the water getting darker now. -Once all the grinds are thoroughly mixed and saturated, add more grinds to the top (the more you add, the stronger the coffee will be). -Slowly add more water to the new grinds on top and stir again going about halfway down. -Let steep overnight. -Before drinking in the morning, pour a large cup of cold brew and instead of drinking the first cup, open your grinds strainer and pour that cup of cold brew back over the grinds. -You can now enjoy a cup of strong and very well mixed cold brew. The reason you want to do all of this is to get a nice dark strong cold brew. The coffee grinds become compacted in the strainer and water cannot penetrate them completely, even when sitting overnight. You’ll notice it by the color of the water. The first couple of times we made the cold brew it was weak and the color of tea versus dark coffee. When you mix the grinds and saturate at the same time, it allows the water to soak into all of the grinds. You *could* skip the last step before drinking but the reason I pour the first cup back over the grinds is to fully mix the coffee up so you aren’t getting a weaker cup from the top and a stronger cup from the bottom where the flavor sunk down to. Hope this helps!Read more

People have complained the glass is too thin, I have to disagree it seems thick enough to me I haven’t had any issues. I really only have three complaints… 1. As others mentioned the pouring doesn’t work so well as the lip was poorly designed it seems. Not a huge issue you can pull the cover up a bit and it pours just fine but a little annoying and I would assume easy to fix… 2. Again others mentioned coffee grains showed up in my final coffee product. Maybe I used to fine a grain for it I don’t know. 3. The size is misleading until you receive it. It does not make 51.2 oz thats just the actual size I guess? It really only makes like 30ish oz. Kind of a nuisance if you’re making it for more than one person and you both like coffee a lot. Hopefully this will help you guys make an informed purchase.Read more

This is my fourth Cold Brew “Contraption” ive purchased in the last 2 years. This is by far the best. Its very easy to use (just pour coffee grounds in the center filter, add water and wait 12 to 24 hours). Clean up is a breeze. Just pop the main filter out when done brewing and toss grounds in trash and rinse with water. Some of my favorite things: 1.) No grounds in my coffee. Even when using cheap store bought (Folgers) stuff. 2.) Brews up enough coffee for two days (for one person), even if you drink a lot of coffee. 3.) Pitcher stores nicely in the fridge. Tips: 1.) Pour the water slowly over the grounds, allowing them to get fully saturated. 2.) Use room temperature water. 3.) Leave out on a counter for a few hours before putting in fridge for a stronger brew. 4.) once I pop the filter out, I add a little water to top off. 5.) Tastes amazing with some heavy cream or half and half!Read more

In the past year I have gone through two of these cold brewers (one of them being the previous model without exterior plastic supports). Both of them have shattered under laughably weak force. The first one broke after being bumped by a plastic milk jug in the fridge and the second broke simply by being picked up by the glass instead of the handle. This, especially the second instance, is unacceptable. Nothing in the kitchen should break simply because it had to be picked up by the body of the object instead of the handle. Not does it lead to wasted money due to the cold brewer breaking, but it is also incredibly dangerous. I loved this cold brewer while using it, but it is far too dangerous for me to recommend anyone use it if it is going to shatter catastrophically during normal use. Do not use this product, the price and convenience is not worth the risk of getting glass in your food or cutting open your hand.Read more

The pitcher is made of paper thin glass. This product broke the second time I used it. I was hand washing the pitcher with dish soap and water, and the glass cracked. For comparison, the picture shows the pitcher versus a basic pint glass. $20 down the drain…Read more

So my biggest issue with this isn’t the construction or materials or ease of use, its that you cant make cold brew coffee in the proper proportions to get a strong toddy. I use a 1:8 coffee to water ratio by weight (e.g. 3oz coarse grounds, 24oz water). The issue is that 3oz of grounds almost fills the center column up but 24 oz of water doesn’t even fill it halfway, so you have grounds that just aren’t in contact with the water. Adding more water would be fine, but then you get weaker cold brew. My recommendation: don’t waste your time with this. If it had a narrower pitcher or a wider and lower column for the grounds, it would honestly be fantastic.Read more

I had used it half a dozen times successfully when yesterday while pouring the water over the grinds it started leaking heavily from the bottom. I could not see any cracks or holes and when tring to remove the rubber holder from the glass container the glass broke in my hand and cut me badly. I should have been more careful while trying to separate what may not be separatable but it should not have lost its integrity after a few weeks use. Too late to return, mine may have been a fluke but it may also be a flaw in the design…..Read more

It is kind of smaller than I expected. It filled a whole venti sized Starbucks cup and left a little left over. It does work just how I needed it to though! My coffee didn’t have any grounds and I like that the container isn’t made of glass.Read more

I tried this after using a bodum French press for cold brew for many years. In the bodum, the course grinds are free to float through the water and that seems to enable way more transfer of flavor for a much richer, concentrated coffee (not to mention utilizing the beans more effectively). The con of this method is that you get a little bit of the fine grounds that go through the bodum filter (so I usually filter a second time = mess and time). This on the other hand, compresses the grinds and hardly allows for any water surface area to collide with the beans. I did a full carafe with just under a cup of grinds and the coffee came out so so diluted, almost undrinkable. Another issue is that it took about 30 minutes of adding a little bit of water at a time to fill this up (adding water through the grind holder). The pro is that clean up is easy… But I think you only get about half of the extraction from the beans – huge waste.Read more

I was surprised at how amazing this product is, made my first cold brew in it & it omg it tastes SO Good!! Very very easy to use. Love that all the parts come apart for easy cleaning. Recommend – The longer you leave it in the fridge the richer the flavor will be. Happy Brewing

It looks modern and effective, easy to clean, 3 -18 ounce glasses per pot before ice. Keeps for days in the fridge. My question was how much coffee to use. That definitely depends on the roast of the coffee. For a mild breakfast blend you put enough coffee to the top of the mesh. Half fill the filter and pour cold water in to get it wet, add the rest of the coffee to the top of the mesh, not the plastic. Slowly add the rest of the cold water to fill the pot. I sometimes carefully stir with a non sharp item to get water all thru the coffee. Refrigerate for 24 hours. If you leave the coffee in for more days it is stronger but still milder than a Columbian. With medium roast coffee like Nabob 1896 use 2/3rds of the above and the same directions. The coffee will be stronger but just as smooth. Much cheaper as well. Update I BUY most things on lightning deals. Since there are no more lightning deals I don’t have time to go through 167 pages of daily so I no longer shopRead more

Read more

Read more
