So I had to test this out well before I wrote my review and I’m glad I did. At first, everything seemed awesome, seed sprouted and grew well. A bit of a stretch but that’s because I had my lights too far away. No, the problem is when my plant turned out to be a male, I uprooted it and looked at the root system before throwing it away. The roots literally grew up out of the hole in the bag and then down from there. Almost NO ROOTS PENETRATED the bag! And the bag did NOT decompose one bit in the 6 weeks it was under ground. And if you have to cut the bag off when transplanting, well you might as well just grow in a plastic pot because cutting the bag off will cause transplant shock (I tried it also). So I have most of the product left and honestly, I’m just going to open all the bags and just use the coir by itself. What a waste.Read more

These little pods make it really easy (and fun) to start your seeds. Once they grow out a bit, you can simply plant them in some rich soil and continue to watch them flourish. (Yes! The roots will grow through the container!) Highly recommended. Fun for all ages!Read more

I use them in a fresh water fish tank to plant cuttings. They work great, and do not harm the fish or foul the water like peat would. Plants recognize them as soil and root into them. I allow them to absorb water and inflate, then remove about 1/5 of the coir and discard. Put a few rocks in the bottom to make them sink, and add a fertilizer tab, the plant, and use a small rubber band to hold the top together. Bury in the bottom and forget about it. No problems!Read more

These were really easy to use, I’d never used starting pellets before, these are awesome. I’d wanted to transfer them to some 2” pots when they were ready to leave the greenhouse trays, but they’re a hair too tall for them, I’ll probably go with some 4” pots. I planted lavender, basil, lemon balm, spearmint and peppermint, and they all sprouted! A wonderful product.Read more

These are very compact and space efficient but they’re so much more expensive than a bag of potting soil. I think it will cost less, in one season, to just buy a second greenhouse.Read more

Soil/coco coir is inconsistent- sometimes fine, sometimes chunky. Size of pellet also variable- appx 1” to 2” after soaking. Fiber netting difficult to remove compared to Jiffy brand pellets. Dries out more quickly than Jiffy as well. Would not buy again.Read more

I was really happy to find peat pellets that were made with coconut coir rather than peat, since peat is an endangered resource. But it turned out to be incredibly hard to grow anything in these. They tended to dry out really quickly, and the plastic netting never did biodegrade, even though it was supposed to. I would not use these again.Read more

These are much better than your standard jiffy seeds. Extra height means extra length , few extra days those little baby seeds can stay in their little coco fiber pellet home. Very nice! Borat approves a great success!Read more
