First, let me start by saying I own a lot of D25 headlamps, mostly the S model. They are the best pound for pound headlamps on the market. Light weight, dependable, built in charging, economical. Sofirn flashlights in general check all the boxes for me. Ok that said, what distinguishes the L from the S model? Twin high CRI emitters. Colors pop. Redder reds, yellower yellows, and greener greens. Take 2 lights side by side and shine them at the same object and watch colors jump out at you with the D25L. If you are a cable splicer for instance, this means all the different colored wires will be easily seen. This perhaps is why hard hat clips are included in the package. Great electrical tech headlamp. You don’t have to be a technician to appreciate high CRI though. Take a walk out in nature and appreciate all the colors of the forest. Also this model offers a more floody beam pattern which is great for more close up use. If you want more throw in a headlamp, go for the D25S model. All else is the same between the S and L D25. 5 brightness levels. 2 blinky modes. They have a nice easy to remember UI. One press on, one press off. Hold while on to change brightness. Double click for blinkies from off or on. The onboard charging option is one of my favorite features. Unscrew the end cap to expose the USB charge socket. It takes about 4 hours to fully charge a depleted battery with it’s 1 amp charge rate. The indicator light changes from red to green when fully charged. All of mine stop just shy of 4.2 volts which is perfect. The 3000 mah 18650s Sofirn includes are decent batteries. A charge cord is included. At first I did not know how the included hardhat clips were used but a quick google shows them attaching to the headband and clipping to the hat’s brim to prevent slipping off. That’s about it. I put the D25S or L in my cars for emergencies and at my work bench to assist my tired old eyes. You will even find them scattered around the house. Gifted some to family. No complaints.Read more

This thing is stellar, so many features I like about it. Firstly, it has basic functions – If you need red lights and flashing distress beacons, this is not for you. I don’t need red light or SOS beacons and I hate most lights you have to push button your way through various modes every single time you turn it on. This one has the choice of bright or very bright and boom, stays like that every time unless you do a long press to change it. Another downfall of most lights, even the expensive ones, is they have poor ergonomics. You fumble around trying to find the right button to press, sometimes you have to yank it off your head to finally find it. This one has one big rubber button side mounted and is super easy to find and press, even with gloves on. The hidden charging port is ingenious, the throw of the light is great, charge lasts a long time, the simple mechanism to tit is superb. You quickly get used to the weird, or non standard, tube shape, and you see the beauty of this shape as it allows for a large battery that would be impossible to fit in more conventional designs. This does make it slightly heavier than the average light but it is nicely balanced. With all of that going for it, why not a 5 star rating you may ask – And I’ll tell ya, the headband. I’d say that a majority of headlights have sucky headbands, this one is no exception. It is a simple design, which I like. I don’t care for the ones that have a strap going over the head and 5 adjustment points,,, But this one is tough to adjust and just when you get it right where you want it, the next day, or even the next hour, it has slipped and is lose again. I haven’t found any way around this, it simply does not hold. If you got a great big head this may not be a factor but I am so sick and tired of fiddling around with it adjusting it, only having to repeat the process the next night. I am going to have to modify it by stitching if necessary to get it to stop slipping. Other than that, it is the perfect headlight and I have tried dozens and currently have at least 6 of them. edit: does have sos/beacon features, thankfully it takes an effort to activate themRead more

* Very bright! Approximately 1225 lumens by my estimation * Lightweight and easy to wear, won’t slip down. I measured 75g without battery and 120g with it. * Anodizing is smooth and even * Including a battery is a plus * The operation is great, but for some it might take some getting used to. I like that the Strobe / SOS / Beacon is hidden. * Built in charging is nice; charging stopped at 4.19V * Low Voltage cutoff is conservative, which I like. My headlamp turned off at 2.95 volts. * LED has a nice tint * Square-cut threads * From off, single-click to activate the middle mode (~273 lumens); single-click within 2 seconds of turning on to enter high (~1225 lumens) * When on, single-click to turn off * When on, press & hold the switch to enter (stepped) “ramping” (5 brightness level from 25%-10%-3%-100%-50%) * From any mode, double-click to activate strobe; double-click again to active SOS; double-click again to active Beacon * It has a runtime of 2 hours & 45 minutes on the 1,225 lumen mode. Sofirn is known for the high level of quality at a budget price point. They stand behind their products and are constantly developing products based on customer feedback. I’ve compared this headlamp to others I have, there is no comparison. It out performs all of my other name brand headlamps, including Xtar, Manker, Rofis. It outshines by a lot, and is easier to use. This is by far my brightest headlamp. I really enjoyed my D25S and I think that you’ll enjoy it too. I highly recommend buying this headlamp especially for the price it’s a real steal!!Read more
