My son is a first year student and seems to go through reeds like candy. These are a good quality at a great price. Highly recommended. I have been an active member of Amazon for quite some time and myself rely heavily on reviews provided by others when making a decision as to whether or not to purchase an item–whether that purchase be one that I am making through Amazon or another source (such as a local store); therefore, I am very aware of the value of user feedback and do my best to assist others in making a quality decision by providing quality feedback. Was this review helpful to you? If so, I would very much appreciate it if you would rate this review accordingly. Many thanks!Read more

Great reds to start off with if you’re a beginner and don’t know what reeds to buy. Maybe starting on 2.5 strength might be a better choice, but that’s just my two cents. Good product, though after extended use the wood starts to disintegrate as you play (very gradually). I’ve recently moved onto vandoren’s (blue box, javas, and v16’s), which are higher quality, though at a larger price. If you’re looking for dependable beginner reeds, this is the thing to buy.Read more

My son is in his 5/6th year of Saxophone and in wood needs we only buy Rico. They’ve proven to last the longest and keep their strength and pitch when taken care of the longest over other brands. If you’re just beginning or looking for quality reed that won’t break the bank during the school year, this is it! Just stay on the kids to take care of whichever ones you buy to help them last!Read more

As a beginner on the sax, these have helped tremendously. I was finally able to get the high notes out clearly and can run through scales without the squeals and burps I got before with the reeds that came stock with the sax. But, again, I’m a beginner and know nothing of these things. This is only anecdotal.Read more

ZERO RATING. I BOUGHT #3 REEDS AND WHEN WE OPENED THE BOX THE REEDS INSIDE SAY STRENGTH IS 3.5. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. BOUGHT THESE SOMETIME BACK FOR THE SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND DID NOT OPEN THE PACK TILL NOW. UPON OPENING NOTICED THAT THE REEDS ARE OF DIFFERENT STRENGTH THAN WHAT IS MENTIONED ON THE BOX. CHEATED.Read more

Back in the ’60s, I guess it was, I borrowed an old, beat-up U.S. Army sax and taught myself to play by ear. I used Rico reeds, and was making pretty good progress toward becoming another Stan Getz, ha ha, when the owner decided he wanted it back. Since then I’ve promised myself I would buy one, and did, a few weeks ago. I also bought a 10-pack of Rico reeds again for old times’ sake. I’m still on the first reed, so I hesitate to give the product 5 stars — there’s still a long way to go for me to give a truly professional opinion — but I think the reeds are excellent.Read more

I stepped down from 2.5 to 2.0 reeds and it really helped me a lot as a beginner. As far as I can tell, these are great reeds and about $10 cheaper than the ones I bought at the local music store. I’m hoping to build my strength enough to go back to the 2.5 but for now they just tire me out too fast and I find it almost impossible to get the low b flat and b notes out. I’m having a great time with my alto sax now, can’t wait to get home from work to get some practice in.Read more

I’m sure that these reeds are of the same [high] quality and are an equally awesome value, as the reeds I’ve purchased on 2 previous occassions. The reason that I am only giving 2 stars, is due entirely to the fact that instead of Alto Sax reeds, I received Clarinet reeds. I did make this selection from the Amazon Warehouse, which I do often, but hadn’t when I previously purchased Rico reeds. When I return these, and receive the reeds I ordered and should’ve received, I’ll try to come back and update by review. I will say, though, that my son absolutely loves these reeds! He asked me to keep buying Rico reeds and to never switch. He has concert band every school day morning, plus jazz band every Tues & Thurs morning. A box of 10 reeds has lasted him almost an entire school year!! I’ll never switch so long as the reeds never change. Highly recommended!Read more

The box has been incorrectly labelled, it says clarinet on the box but sax on the label on the back. There is a difference – so this product has been miss-sold.!Read more
