I purchased this after having xfinity Home for 6 years. I got tired of them raising my rates and playing with contracts. I love the new Ring system. I also purchased a peephole cam and interior camera. The system is VERY easy to install. I can’t believe Comcast forces a $99 install fee for their similar system to install. Everything worked as it should out of the box. The door sensors are a little larger than most but they have some give on spacing and didn’t have any problems. The system itself let’s you setup multiple users. I have it notify me on my phone each time my door opens and closes but this can be enabled/disabled. There are no rules options as far as I can see like I had with my last provider (i.e. Automatic arm the system at X time in case I forgot). Very excited about the $10/month price tag. I purchased some cheap smart bulbs on Amazon and have Ring patched in with them via Alexa. So in the middle of the night if my entry door open, I have the kitchen lights turn on blue for a few minutes. Early in the morning when the motion detector detects motion, the kitchen lights turn on white dim until the front door opens and I leave for work. When someone comes home during the day and disarms the alarm, my kitchen lights turn on and turn off after 30 minutes of no motion. This is all custom settings but using the Ring alarm sensors to trigger Alexa rules. Very hdlpful. Love this system.Read more

Super easy product to install. Excellent choice to satisfy the most basic home security needs even with the un-monitored option. Only reason this did not get 5 stars is due to the delay in alerting. All other aspects are good. When you trip any of the devices – Ring Doorbell, motion sensor, door trip, etc., it takes at least 10-15 seconds before the alert hits the app and let’s you know. In the event of a break in, that’s potentially a lifetime. Not sure if it has to do with the cloud component, but highly suspect it is. If that’s the case, Ring should offer a small local storage option that then moves the data to the cloud so they can continue to make their money by forcing you to sign up for their cloud service option. When it comes to home security, I want to know the instant movement is picked-up so I have time to react to the situation. This much of a delay doesn’t meet that mark. I could use cans and a string and get better results. So if you’re looking for real time, move on. If near real time works for you and a delay is acceptable, this is a great option.Read more

Received my ring yesterday. Installed this morning but window/Door sensor had 0 stick on the back of them. Called the 1800 number, and was told to go buy some tape. That might sound like an easy solution. But after spending more then $200 I’ll rather buy a system that truly comes ready out of the box. Will be returning. Great idea but bad execution.Read more

After a theft put me in the market for a security system, I ended up here. On a grad student budget, this seemed ideal and I like how easy it’s *supposed to be* to install and how easy it would be to grow as we transition out of a rented apartment into something bigger down the line… I’m not going to pretend I am super tech savvy but this was not as simple of am install as I was hoping. It started out find but the wifi went out mid-install. Since the pieces weren’t all set up, I had to factory reset everything. It was a pain. The directions on the help site were wrong (no matter how long I held the pinhole, the light on the keypad never blinked red. blinking green? yup! solid red? yup! blinking red? never). The pinhole tool provided also did not fit into the pinhole at the back of the keypad. That was annoying. Once everything got set up, it’s very user friendly. I do wish there was some integration with my google home. I know it’s stupid to complain about using my phone to set the alarm instead of my voice, but it would be nice. Everything is very aesthetically pleasing and I’m sleeping much better at night, so all things considered, I’m happy with the purchase. My only other note is to make sure you’ve got your motion sensor set correctly. Our lab set it off on our first trip out.Read more

  5. Also I don’t

UPDATE: This system works great now. Day 1 was rough as hell but they quickly got the bugs ironed out. We have it fully integrated to our Echo network and home automation routines. It works great! It’s perfect for our apartment and I can’t wait to take it with us when we move into our home. 🙂 It gives us a lot of peace ofind when we aren’t here. We liked it so much we bought the battery doorbell as well. If you are considering getting a home alarm system GET THIS!!! I was excited to get this product day 1. We got it installed, connected to Alexa, and added to our smart home routines. Out of the blue alexa couldn’t communicate to the ring. NP I Willis the app to do it. The app had problems switch from disarmed to armed. I reset the basestation after removing all of the devices first. It wouldn’t come back online and allow devices to be re-registered. Called tech support and after working unit for an hour they gave up and told me it had to go to engineering they were sending a replacement. Soooooo I have an unreliable security system now. WTH?!?! I can’t be worried if I am going to be safe or not because I have 0 confidence in the security system that is supposed to do that. WILDY disappointed!!!!!Read more

When I bought my 1st Ring device in Sept 2019, I selected their product after a lengthy comparison and they had the longest FREE time to review video clips. Now that I’ve had the product for over a year and purchased several more items from them, they altered the terms, and you must have a subscription to view anything but live video.Read more

Siren is not loud. Door sensor came with half battery. System appear to be repacked and bought it new I reluctantly installed it. The interface app works great but this is a review of gen 2 system to which I have to say is over priced cheaply made and siren is basically useless. Maybe I got a bad one but I compared with someone else who tried they said same…..Read more
