In theory, this is a great idea for a product, but the design needs to be tested and improved. My 1-year-old twins popped it off the way in two-seconds flat (1: notice it; 2: stick finger in notch and pull it out). It’s not difficult to remove (there is a notch for adults that my babies exploited) and I think difficulty in removal is essential element to consider something a baby proofing device. On the one hand, they market it as a “Outlet Shield” ; on the other hand, it’s right on the packaging “Outsmart little ones with decoy panel” so it toes the line misadvertising as a baby-proofing good, strongly implying it is effective for baby-proofing. Bottom line, it may work for some kids, but the outlets have to be rarely used otherwise there is no sticking-power/budge-proof. For my kids, this was more of an attractive nuisance. Depends on the kid, depends on the outlet. Final say: don’t bother.Read more

These are great for covering outlets in areas you’re ceding to your children completely. The fact that they’re completely covered and smooth seems to deter interest more than the small covers for each individual socket – I’ve heard many parents comment that some children take more interest in mini-covers than they do in uncovered outlets. However, removing the covers from outlets can be quite difficult in newer outlets. The pressure the receptacles exert on the four prongs of the cover is surprisingly strong, which is great for keeping kids from removing them but bad when you want to remove it yourself. So, if you have hall outlets that you’re using every week to vacuum, you may want to consider different options. For outlets in play areas and rarely used receptacles, these are the best option, but keep the above limitation in mind before you order them for your whole house.Read more

These outlet shields are great. Covers completely over the existing outlet. I personally did not found these to be too big or small. They were perfect fit for my existing outlets. Does not pull off easily. I use these near water faucets where the outlet is not needed and where water can get splashed. For those who experienced that these are not secure and pulls off easily (or any brand): Its most likely due to the outlet contacts in the receptacle are worn out and loose. I had a few like these where the cover can be easily pulled off and other outlets, it was difficult. I replaced those loose ones and solved the problem. If you’re planning to do the same, get a professional to replace the receptacle or if DIY, make sure to cut off the power for the outlet to prevent any risk of electrocution.Read more

I love how they are easy to apply- but sadly they are easy to remove as well. These do not work well on all of my outlets. Some outlets they firmly fit and take some effort to remove. Others take a slight bump and basically fall off. So those outlets I applied the safety 1st outlet covers with the locking mechanism that are difficult to remove(even for me). The reason I prefer these is my curious 2 year old doesn’t even care to notice these. She sees the outlet covered and isn’t acttracted to how they look because there’s nothing to poke or grab at. The ones that have the locking mechanism are in each individual outlet and she still tries to take them out because it looks like something to grab. I know not to apply them to the outlets while she is looking because I know she will try to take them off if she sees me mess with them. I may apply some command tape to the inside of the outlet cover. But so far these have worked well. I attached pictures of both of the outlet covers I am talking about.Read more

Bought these to cover all the outlets we don’t normally use in the house Most of them fit right however a few of them were loose so I was able to turn them upside down and it was a tighter fit all except for one outlet where I can pull this off so easy I don’t think my child will even be interested in the outlet as it’s fully covered unless she were to watch me remove it and then it might catch her attention We bought other actual self closing outlets for the places we plug things in daily like the vacuumRead more

We have an 11 month old who wants to explore everything except her toys so it should come to no surprise that now that she is standing and mobile, outlets are a fascination. We have installed these guards throughout our home and they are strong and sturdy. They take a real good bit of effort to pull them out, and unless your child is a miniature Arnold Schwarzenegger, they are not pulling them out. They can become a slight pain in the behind when you need to take them out to plug something in, but well worth the hassle to know our baby girl will not be exploring the powers of electricity any time soon!Read more

I didn’t bother covering outlets when my daughter was a baby, and she knows not to touch them (which I’m glad she knows!). I bought these more for aesthetic reasons, because outlets aren’t really that pretty to look at next to some of the decor in her playroom. I actually really like these covers. They are simple and unobtrusive. Cheap, easy to install, and I’ve honestly thought about putting some cute stickers on them to make them part of the fun.Read more

Every house and kid is different, but for us this outlet shield is perfect! They look much nicer, especially since they match our white trim, and aren’t an eye sore. Plus they are easier for me to use when I need to plug in the vacuum compared to those tiny outlet plugs. Our house is older, so it’s really easy to plug in and take out the shield for any day use. Maybe we are lucky, but our kid has never bothered with them and neither do tiny visitors. Out of sight out of mind. Now that we’ve had them for almost two years, our toddler knows better and purposely leaves them alone.Read more

It’s a good product, but the contacts aren’t great on our outlets so it wouldn’t stay in and the 14 month old figured out how to pull it off almost immediately. A screw in cover is better to hide if the outlet isn’t really used – more secure. We added the 3M velcro like picture hanging strips to the inside top and bottom and baby wasn’t able to pull it out after that and we can still pull off if we need to and easily reattach.Read more

I’m not using this product for its intended purpose, but it works wonderfully for mine. I have smart light bulbs, you see, on two lamps that happen to be controlled by a switch. And I hate that I mindlessly switch them off at night, forcing me to go through the re-pairing process if they decide to be picky in the morning. So I looked and looked for something to cover my switches, to no avail. Until this. It took me about a minute to break off the prongs that would usually hold the cover in place. I replaced it with a two-piece command strip on the side of the switch plate. Ta-da! Works wonderfully, easy to remove. If you’re using the product for outlets and you find the prongs don’t hold it in place, try the command strip!Read more
