I bought this for my boyfriend’s cat, who is 13 or 14 years old, and who is also the grumpiest old man cat I have ever met. He literally stomps around and yells at everyone. Some would say he is mean spirited and hates everyone, except his dad who he loves very much. For some reason, I became very fond of this creature and thanks to an abundance of cat treats and wet food, I finally won him over. Now about his coat. I wouldn’t have used the word “mangy” to describe him, but his fur was matted and dandruffy, and not shiny at all. My bf said he has always looked that way, but he drinks plenty of water from a cat fountain, and eats high end cat food. I became obsessed with fixing his problem and did some research, and finally decided to try this salmon oil stuff, an inexpensive, easy experiment. Let me tell you, after 1 week of putting this stuff in his food twice a day, his tail was shiny! After about 2 or 3 weeks, his whole coat transformed. My bf said he doesn’t shed as much now, and he is shocked at the appearance of old boy’s coat, which is all shiny and less dandruffy too. I’m also convinced that his attitude has improved, though he still likes to stomp around and yell at people. If you are considering trying this stuff out, DO IT. It really doesn’t smell that awful, and the pump bottle makes it super easy to use, and old grumpster loves the taste too. They should have this stuff in every pet store.Read more

I am torn writing this review, I don’t like reviews that give a product 1 star just because it didn’t work for their animal. However, neither my cats or dogs liked this. I tried putting it in their food, on their treats, and just alone in a bowl. I had no takers so I was a bit disappointed. That doesn’t mean it won’t work for your animals though, this was just my experience. UPDATE: The seller reached out to me after I left this review and refunded me the full amount of my purchase. I upped it to 4 stars because of their excellent customer service. That was so unexpected and I really appreciated it. UPDATE #2: We got a new dog last summer and he took to this immediately, and strangely enough our other dog decided she liked it as well. Our new dog is a pit bull with a very short coat, it was a bit sparse when we got him and a little coarse. After a month of using the fish oil his coat filled in and got really soft and shiny. I keep it in the fridge so it doesn’t smell and am very happy with the product.Read more

I’m leaving an updated review on this product. My first order came and had an overwhelmingly strong bad fish odor. I left a review and the company contacted me about their being a possible problem with that bottle, and would I be willing to try again. I received another bottle and started to use it. This bottle defiantly still had a fish odor, but was not nearly as strong as the first one. My dog seemed to not hesitate to ear her food with her new oil added. This is a great product as my dog has very dry skin, and I already can see an improvement in her overall coat shine and skin hydration. This company went above and beyond the call of duty, and I truly appreciate the wonderful customer service and well made product. Thanks!!Read more

I’ve been buying this brand of salmon oil for my dog for years, and it has been great for her skin. She tends be be a little dry and flaky, and this product was good for a long time. However, the most recent bottle I received smells worse than the others and also appears to be very watered down. I’ve been giving it to my dog for a couple of weeks and her skin is starting to be flaky again. She even refused to drink all I gave her last night, and she has always gobbled this stuff up like it was candy. In addition to the lesser quality of the oil, the pump is now different and it leaks, so the bottle is constantly covered in fish oil. Every time I pick the bottle up to dispense some for my dog, my hands get covered in fish oil. Gross. (This leaking problem may be due to the thinness of the oil in this newest bottle and not due to the new pump. I’m really not sure.)Read more

Thankfully, my pup and cat both really like this stuff on their food. The pump is used for dosage , but I found it made a mess for me, so I am using with a dosage syringe ( 2ml = 1 pump ) It’s a LOT easier for me to keep from getting oil splatter all on the bowl(s) or on floor this way. Edit / Update: A month later, and both my pup and cat still like this stuff. There is a noticeable gleam… a sheen and softness in my pup’s coat. My cat , not yet, BUT she is MUCH more active than she was before… ( she was having eating issues and this is the reason I started this stuff… and it is working for her big league ) . I am very happy about this stuff, and a few more months in, I’ll update again.Read more

My dog was scratching and her skin was irritated. I had taken her to the vet and was sent home with an allergy medication for “environmental allergies”. The first week she was on a full dose 1 tablet/day and after that 1/2 tablet/day. She improved some after the first week with the full dose, but after that she was back to scratching and even biting herself in her areas of itching. My friend told me about fish oil for canine skin dryness and irritation problems so I shopped Amazon.com. I read reviews and this Salmon Oil seemed to be the favorite and best seller. I started using it from day one and she rarely scratches anymore. I believe she’s been using this for 1.5 weeks now. She too has a coarse coat for a Papillon but it does seem softer than before.Read more
