Bought three of these Samsung BAR plus in 64GB, two for key chain use, one to have handy on my desk. Made sure Amazon was the seller to help avoid any risk of non-genuine Samsung parts. Just arrived and burned each one in briefly using CrystalDiskMark, so I could both be sure each worked and compare speeds between the units. All three tested within about 2% of each other on each benchmark. Importantly, the sequential read speeds exceeded the claimed 200 MB/s in each case, averaging 224 MB/s. Writes were all 34MB/s. All tests were conducted on my laptop, a Lenovo Flex5, on a USB 3.0 port. Clearly the sequential read speeds take advantage of USB3.0 bandwidth. Overall very pleased for the price and the key chain friendly stainless steel casing. Note I did put a cover on the USB end of each, using the covers fromHonbay 40pcs Semitransparent Black and Clear Plastic USB Male Anti-Dust Plug Stopper Cap Cover . I wanted just a bit more protection when used on key chains from dents and the elements. These Honbay covers fit snugly yet come off relatively easily. These feel like TPR, which is good for grip and flexibility. Pros +Fairly fast overall for the price, and clearly very fast at sequential reads. +Good looking, tough stainless steel body +Great form factor for handling – only as wide as a USB port so they won’t cause any interference with adjacent ports, a bit longer than the really small USB drives designed to stay mounted all the time, but therefore very easy to get in and out, especially with the raised end near the lanyard hole providing a nice grip. +Hangs just fine on my key chain, a Maxpedition Gear KeyperMaxpedition Gear Keyper, Foliage Green using a FREEkey ring, the absolutely most secure rings you can buy in my experienceFREEkey Accessory Ring Spares, 10 Count Cons -wish for faster write speeds -gets warm but not so hot as to be a concern so far No data yet on reliability, will updated if I find any issues. I lost my old metal USB from Samsung that was a 64GB. I figured this USB since it is new would be just as good so I purchased a 128GB one. Boy, was I wrong. My old metal Samsung USB would do read/write speeds consistently at 20-30MB/s and it was great. This one does 800 KB/s to 1.2 MB/s. It’s horrible. Gosh, what a terrible USB drive. Buy the old Samsung USB. I linked it below because this new one is trash. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-METAL-Flash-MUF-32BA-AM/dp/B013CCTJKE/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1538872011&sr=8-4&keywords=samsung%2Bmetal%2Busb&th=1Read more

Samsung BAR Plus 128 GB Flash Drive. I was testing USB ports and cables for a new computer build using ATTO Disk Benchmark version 4.00.0f2. with the following settings: Direct I/O – enabled Bypass Write Cache – enabled (to see the real speed) Verify Data – enabled I/O Size – 512 B to 64 MB File Size – 256 MB Test Pattern – Random Typical Write Speed – 48 MB/s to 50 MB/s (with block sizes over 128 KB) Typical Read Speed – 280 MB/s to 320 MB/s (with block sizes over 128 KB) After about 80 to 100 passes the Write Speed would erratically drop to 8 MB/s to 12 MB/s. Not particular to any data block size – will happen on small, medium and large block sizes. Sometimes for just a couple test patterns and sometimes for 2-3 full passes of ATTO. The Read Speed stayed consistent at 280 MB/s – 320 MB/s. No data was corrupted or lost – just erratic write speeds. The metal casing would get warm but never hot to the touch. Amazon sent me another Samsung BAR Plus 128 GB Flash Drive. It did the exact same thing after about 80 to 100 passes of the ATTO Disk Benchmark test. I sent both back. I really like all the features of this flash drive. I hope Samsung will fix the erratic write speeds on the next version. I will buy it again if they do.Read more

Decent performance for a 32GB drive, but wish the write speeds were better. ATTO tests shows a solid 227MB/s read speeds, but write speeds were in the 25-28MB/s range. In Windows 10, write speeds are regularly between 16-20MB/s when copying large files. Gets warm but not hot, unlike the last gen METAL BAR drive. The Grey drive has a matte feel, not slippery like the chrome version of the previous gen (which I was always dropping because of it’s slippery nature). Other drives (like Sandisk Flair) that cost less offer about the same write speed, so I would say that write speeds are this drives downside. BUT, I use these as Windows installers, so price and read speed is most important to me. It’s a few bucks more than a Sandisk Flair, but I’ve found the Flair’s to be unreliable after about a year, so hopefully these will fair better.Read more

This review is purely based on my experience with them as a DJ using Pioneer CDJs. These USBs will go into emergency loops often. I don’t know what it is about them, but they simply are not good USBs for CDJs. I’ve tried 2 different ones and even gave one to my friend as a gift. His did the same thing. Scrolling through songs and then boom, USB fails, emergency loop. I’m sure these USBs are great otherwise, but if you are buying these for Rekordbox, DO NOT!Read more

The Samsung BAR Plus USB 3.1 flash drive has a very nice compact metallic design. In the description, there is a lack of information on writing speed performance. So here are my speed test results that I get using the Samsung BAR Plus 64GB USB 3.1 Flash Drive with an ASMedia USB 3.1 controller, a Renesas USB 3.0 controller or a VIA VL805 USB 3.0 controller. Like advertised, it has a fast reading speed of 268 MB/s with ASMedia USB 3.1 controller, and 250 MB/s with Renesas or VIA USB 3.0 controllers. But a very SLOW writing speed of 34 MB/s maximum no matter which USB controller is used. Very disappointing for a USB 3.1 flash drive. Same speed results using the exFAT or NTFS file systems on the flash drive. If you want very fast writing speed, get a SanDisk Extreme PRO USB 3.1 Flash Drive which gives me 350 MB/s of reading speed, and 260 MB/s of writing speed using an ASMedia USB 3.1 controller. It is worth the extra cost to get a real USB 3.1 flash drive performance.Read more

Nowhere on the product page (at the time of purchase) does it say the advertised transfer speed is _exclusively_ for Read, there is no advertised speed for Write. From the product page: “Redefine everyday file transfers with speeds up to 200MB/s” That implies both Read and Write speeds, however actual Write performance is ONLY 25-29 MB/s basically a little more than 10% of the advertised speed. The marketing materials need to be more clear and disclose the poor write performance instead of relying on predatory tactics. The Read speed, although actually over 200MB/s, is meaningless without adequate Write speeds unless you plan on using your USB Drive as Read-Only-Memory which in my opinion totally defeats the purpose of USB drives.Read more

I became one of those stupid enough to be scammed by purchasing a Kauriea USB Memory Stick 2TB Flash Drive that turned out to be a mere 32GB. Obviously I returned it and opted for this device instead. Works flawlessly. Despite my system only supporting USB3.0, large files topped out at 100MB/s write in Windows10 – Very Impressed. [EDIT] I use Linux Clonezilla to backup my windows and Linux operating sytems and always at the end == CloneZilla does the “Waiting for flush writing buffers” Thing. The data is written to this device as fast as Linux can write it. 🙂 NICE!Read more

La compré hace un mes. Funciona perfecto. Read more

It’s always hard to find a reliable USB of this capacity. Plenty of items on the market are USB 2 despite advertising them as 3. I checked the speed of the item and I can confirm is reliableRead more
