ShowerShroom SHSULT755 Ultra Revolutionary Shower Hair Catcher Drain Protector, Stainless

I bought both a ShowerShroom and a TubShroom (stainless steel). In under 3 weeks of use, I threw away the impossible to clean TubShroom. I now only use the ShowerShroom for decor on top of a cheap screen drain product that I’ve been using for over 10 years. The screen drain captures everything; I need to clean it out about every 2-3 days. The ShowerShroom was in place for over two weeks and barely captured maybe 6-8 hairs. I now have the ShowerShroom on top of the basic screen drain and at least 90% easily passes thru the ShowerShroom and is caught by the screen drain. Therefore, I know the ShowerShroom isn’t working and know exactly what it is allowing to pass thru. As for the TubShroom, I set it up in a different bathroom and it also barely captures what the basic screen drain does. However, it might have performed slightly better. I couldn’t double screen it to know definitely. Generally we have to clean out the basic screen at least twice a week, the TubShroom took over two weeks to capture the same volume we’d normally find in the basic screen after 3-4 days. The deal breaker for me with the TubShroom is its near impossible to remove hair captured. After wasting 10 minutes with the tangled mess, and not making any real progress, I decided this wasn’t worth it. The simple, cheap screen drain is far more effective and considerably easier to clean out. The TubShroom was like trying to get hair untangled from a vacuum. The only positive thing I can say is the ShowerShroom looks a lot nicer than the cheap screen drain. Hence, since it will fit on top of the screen drain, I am using it in that fashion. This drain cover is a must have for every home!! If everyone had the Shower Shroom covering drains that tend to back up, we’d have far less need for chemicals like Draino. There are products on the market that are meant to catch hair and debris and keep drains from backing up but none can touch the Shower Shroom in terms of both aesthetics and function. It’s in a league of its own. Every few days I just pull the hair out and throw it away. I was hai happy to remove the plunger from the shower. Before the Shower Shroom was available, I’d look for similar products but all I’d see were products meant for bathtub showers. I backed the Shower Shroom on Kickstarter as soon as I saw drain covers that would work in our showers. I’m going to get more of these because, quite frankly they look better than regular drain covers. This is one of a small handful of the many Kickstarter products I’ve backed that actually exceeded my expectations. If I hadn’t seen this on Kickstarter, I’d still be plunging on a regular basis. They Shower Shroom can be easily removed and cleaned from time to time so it doesn’t get slimy and disgusting like the normal drain covers that area screwed on and I certainly appreciate that. Cleaning hair out of my old basket-type hair catcher was one of my most hated tasks. I hated having to bend over; pull out the slimy basket, have to use a bottle brush and a metal nail file to try to extract and scrape the hair out of the basket. It was gross and disgusting and laborious. Who knew that an ingenious, inexpensive, attractive, well made little gadget could forever eliminate that yukky chore from my life. Thank you Shower Shroom! This is so easy to pull out the little rubber plug (which never seems to get slimy), pull off the singular ring of hair neatly wrapped in a circle around the plug, and replace. Too big for my “standard” shower drain. It goes on the tiles surrounding the drain face. I learned there is no such thing as “standard” shower drain. Returning it. Packaging is awfully difficult to open. I struggled with hand and then went for a small scissor. Very frustrating and tough packaging.Read more

I have long hair and my shower drain used to get clogged all the time. This product works wonderfully and it’s super easy to clean. The only reason I’d give it a 4 and not 5 stars is that I wish it had some sort of prongs to hold it in place. It just sits on top of my drain and it moves around fairly easily.
