So this comes in little packets and I find them to be wildly expensive. That being said my doc fully supports the idea of exposing babies to allergens early. I mix half a packet at a time (to save on cost) halfway through feeding my son food (so he tastes it with and without the mix) ever since he started “solids” at approx 4mo. They def have a nutty smell but he still seems to love them 🙂 no adverse reactions so far. we are now adding the strawberry puffs and he loves those. I have noticed they are a little crunchier and slower to dissolve than say, Gerber puffs, but he never has an issue transferring between the different brands. He’s 8 months still loves both and no reactions (knock on wood!!). I even had my 7yr old niece try them and she said they were SO yummy and was so grossed out when I told her there was fish in there lol If you found this review at all helpful please hit the button below, thanks!Read more

I was excited to try this product to introduce the common allergens to my just turned 4 month old. My doctor recommended introducing allergens early at 4 mo, and I read several studies that show introduction at 4 months is the best way to prevent allergies. I did a lot of research and am passionate about this since my brother had bad childhood allergies and I’m committed to help reduce my kid’s risks, after seeing what my brother went through. Problem is my baby is still drinking a bottle and not interested in any solids yet (my older 2 kids wouldn’t accept solids until after 6 months). I found this product and was excited to try it since they say it can be mixed in a bottle. Concept is good but the mixture can NOT fit though the nipple! I tried both level 3 (which my baby currently uses) and also level 4, still unable to get the large particles through the nipple. So it’s useless for babies 4-6mo, when it is most important. I’m going to have to try a different brand I saw on Amazon. Some other problems I noticed- there is no gradual introduction of each allergen so it was a little scary to dump in all the allergens at once. What if my baby had a reaction? I wouldn’t know what allergen cause them. Also, I couldn’t find on their website how they determine the dosage of each allergen within the packet. Like is it based on the studies or just an arbitrary amount? And in the ingredients it even has sugar and “natural flavors” as ingredients, which I didn’t notice when I first ordered it. I’m not interested in feeding my baby sugar and flavors so young. And also most of the ingredients are not organic. Maybe I’ll try this again when my baby is over a year old, but for the young babies I don’t think this is the right product.Read more

We started using ready set food at 3 months as our baby has eczema and strong history of family food allergies. Ready set food only has three ingredients, but I liked how it added them slowly and one by one. We finished it at 4.5 months and moved onto this as he had tolerated that well and started eating solids. At first this really constipated him (every new food does for him). Started with a quarter packet and moved up to a full packed over the course of two weeks just to make sure. Once up to full packet and at 5 months I moved to full packet three times a week, as in the medical research I had found supporting items like this exposure was required 3 times a week to be effective, and this stuff is not cheap! So he gets full dose MWF mixed into Kabrita oatmeal and it seems to be going well. Now he’s 6 months and I feel confident with him going forward. He isn’t ready for the puffs yet since he doesn’t have the pincher grasp and his swallow isn’t ready for more solid foods, once he is I will switch him over to the puffs three times a week until he is getting regular exposure to all these allergens (my guess is around age 2?) I hate seafood and seafood smell and this doesn’t seem to be stinky- smells more nutty. Baby doesn’t seem to mind the flavor at all.Read more

They probably know what they’re doing with pricepoint and new parents… and we historically spend money we don’t really need to on convenience or for “the best for our little one” but for this to be a recurring cost, a montly bill of sorts, around $60/month when none of us parents have a food allergy?? Tough one to swallow. We’ve found ourselves researching and doing it ourselves. That being said, the product is convenient and seems great. You can taste all the different types of foods but it’s not off-putting. Our little guy enjoyed anything we mixed it in. But as for me (and convincing my wife this to be an acceptable cost) I would guess you’d have a repeat customer for the next 2 years at $20-30/month instead of a one-time buyer.Read more

What a relief! After having three babies develop food allergies, I was determined to get out in front of them with baby number four, now that medical science has confirmed that early, frequent exposure to allergens is the best way to prevent food allergies. Spoonful One has made this so easy in one tidy, daily packet, that my infant simply LOVES. What an enjoyable way to keep him safe! And my older children like the puffs, which have become one of my approaches to maintain their hard-won allergy freedom. I take particular comfort in knowing that Dr. Nadeau is behind these products. Dr. Gideon Lack in London (with whom, full disclosure, I wrote an allergy prevention book) and Dr. Kari Nadeau at Stanford are the true superstars of food allergy research and treatment, especially for children. I trust their efforts to end the current food allergy epidemic. Robin Nixon Pompa, author of Allergy-Free Kids: The Science-based Approach to Preventing Food Allergies.Read more
