This is a sweet little card game. It’s pretty, visually I mean the cards are pretty. The idea of growing strawberry plants over the course of a day is a neat concept. I liked how it played it was very fast but not too easy. The cards were a good quality and I liked how the instructions are on cards themselves so they fit in the card box. I like how portable the game is too. My only small gripe is that the box itself is just a plain box it’s not linen finish like the cards. I would have liked a little nicer box for the price (full disclosure I paid full price for this game when it first came out so $12.95usd). For 12.95 I would have loved to see a linen finish box with the art that’s on the back of one of cards? But that’s a small gripe I’m still glad I got the game I like it and it will stay in my collection. If you like mini card games like Love Letter or Tussie Mussie or the small card game genre you will probably like this game. The deck is in thirds with 16 cards per third: morning, noon, and evening. There are 4 player guide cards and 3 rule cards and a publisher card with designer info. 56 cards in total. So basically just your typical deck of cards size. This is a card placement set collection type game the goal is to place your cards drawn from each part of the day (morning:roots, mid day: flowers, evening: strawberries) such that you have all three parts of a strawberry plant (hence the set collecting). You get points for completed plants and long paths and water features and loose points for gravel. There are also advanced scoring options. The thing that makes it challenging is that you must always place cards vertically and you must always cover at least one quadrant of the card (you can cover more but must be at least one quarter of the card) with each new card placed. Meaning you will have to cover something whenever you lay down a new card so that requires some planning otherwise you may end up having to cover a necessary part of your plant (hence the placement aspect). I think this is a sweet little berry of a game and I’m glad I have it. I hope in subsequent printings to see perhaps a new box and maybe some tiny wording clarification in the rules. The rules are hard to understand but a couple of things could have been phrased clearer. I gave 2 stars on thickness because while there isn’t much to it it’s thicker than say guju guju. Value for the money is there with almost 5 stars one ding for the box. And a 4 star over all. Cheers, happy gaming!Read more

I think this might be the perfect pandemic game. It’s a moment of utter zen between me and my partner when we pull this out for a quick game. Fifteen to twenty minutes of gameplay for two of us, beautiful little pictures, very re-playable. I’d give it six stars if I could.Read more

I love strategy games, and never really get to play them with my family who loves board games. This was a hit with them. It’s easy to learn, and hard to master. If you’re a board gamer who likes games like Scythe or Root, this game is a wonderful way to introduce a more casual audience to strategy games and get them on board for that style of board gaming.Read more

This game is a super cute idea, and it is a fun challenge to try to get points and create a beautiful garden. The art on the cards is awesome. My main issue is that the cards are very slippery, when what you want is for them is that they stay in place. We have had several stressful moments due to some one accidentally brushing against the cards and they all slide out of place. I feel like I’m constantly readjusting them. We tried this game on carpet, hardwood floor, and a blanket, and all were slippery. Another review said that the card had some sort of fancy linen finish or something, which could be contributing to the slippery nature of the cards? Maybe a matte finish instead would have been better.Read more

I was very impressed with this game. The designers packed in a lot of complexity in a small game. There are even advanced scoring rules available. The art on the face and backs of the cards is beautiful and clever (sunrise, noon, sunset). The design of this game, overall, is clever. I would agree with the other reviewers who said the game is not that simple, but for me that’s a good thing. It’s just maybe a caution for people buying for kids who are at Go-fish or War card games’ complexity level. This is a little trickier in spacial planning and strategy. But it’s also not that complicated to understand either. I would also agree with other reviewers that the cards are slippery, but for me it was manageable and not too bad. I really like this game and have played it alone for practice, with coworkers at lunch, and with friends. I even gave it as a gift to a friend. I think it played well with both 2 and 4 players. I am happy to have this game in my collection.Read more

Such a pleasant game with beautiful images! Rules are easy to learn and game pace is quick enough to enjoy multiples times. The only crucially frustrating part is that the cards are very shiny and especially slippery when trying to align the patterns; an essential part of the game visually.Read more

The game is a bit hard to pick up right away for a game that is advertised as “Sweet & Simple”. I say this because it has a unique game mechanism, the visuals are as obvious as they could be, + a slightly confusing rule-explanation video. For those purchasing on the premise of “quick to pick up” I recommend looking into this more before purchasing. For those who are game-savvy it is a great small gift for quick on the go games.Read more

At first it seemed simple but the more we played it the more strategy we realized was needed. You really have to think about placement for future cards when laying them down. I got this to play over the holidays a few months ago and we played it quite a few times. However the game lacks depth as it is a card game, so I haven’t found myself picking it up often since then. Overall I’d say if you want something simple and not too complicated this is a great little card game. I’d suggest it for a weekend away or if you want to have a date night in.Read more
