Not what they used to be. I own 4 string swings that I purchased 10-15 years ago. The big black spacer on mine is made of METAL, not cheap plastic. I’d rather pay $20 for a well built one than $12.99 for this piece of junk. String Swing, like many American companies – used their established reputation to screw over new buyers who never owned the old, solidly made versions of this item. Sad, as way too many US companies decide to put short term profits over quality. Returning this one to amazon, and seeking one with a metal space on fleabay. Shame on you String Swing, you now make garbage.Read more

These are good hangers and String Swing is well known as a good maker of them I don’t like the yoke on these personally because of the deep curve. It causes the screw-mechanisms on the back of my locking tuners to get caught on the back curve of the yoke. The results are either losing tune because it unscrews your tuner lock, or the weight of the guitar is resting on the tuner instead of the neck. If you do not have the deep locking tuners like I have, 100% on these. They are great. I have contacted String Swing about a possibly getting different yokes for mine. String Swing is great about communication as I have contacted them in the past about mounting. Advice: MOUNT IN STUDS!!!!! The people that say it doesn’t matter DO NOT love their guitar like you and I do!!!! If you absolutely can’t mount in studs, use the biggest and baddest toggle bolts you can find. I still don’t recommend it. I tried it with my first one I mounted (1/8″ toggle) and it indeed popped right out of the wall ripping through the drywall when I gave it a bit of a pull to test it. Left me with a pretty large drywall hole to patch as well. Use studs if you can. Your guitar deserves it.Read more

I’ve used dozens of these over the last 30 years. I’ve hung everything from mandolins to dreadnoughts and Les pauls and strats and basses and ukes and even guitar hero guitars, works beautifully every time. Plus, they’re gorgeous hunks of wood. i would never buy or recommend anything other than this specific guitar hanger. the screws and anchors that come with it are top quailty as well. never put a single scratch or mark on any guitars. You can gently open and close the hanging part to fit the neck of your instrument. I have a 56 LP goldtop (not a re-issue) in mint condition hanging on one, that should tell you how much i trust these. roughly 2 to 3 inches of room behind the instrument and the wall while it’s hanging. I never used the black walnut one, just simply because i prefer the look of the oak but i’m sure it’s equally as superb.Read more

I have been fortunate to build a small, but decent collection of acoustic and electric guitars in a room dedicated to music. All 15 of my guitars are hanging on the walls and in the 15 years I’ve been using String Swings I’ve never had a problem with them. They hold every guitar, regardless of neck shape or style. Since they swivel, my Fender necks are just as secure as my Gibson necks. The depth is adjustable, so they will account for the difference between acoustic guitars and solid body electrics. While I never had a problem with the rubber grip on the hangers marring the finish of my Nitro coated guitars, I didn’t want to take a chance, so I use self-adhesive sheets of felt and wrap the posts with felt to further protect the guitar’s finish. I try and screw them into studs to support the weight, and where I can’t do it, I hang some of my lighter guitars, but the anchors that come with the hangers are strong and secure… although I sprung a couple bucks and bought similar screw-in anchors; but made out of metal – just that added bit of security to make sure nothing happens. I also strongly recommend (as others have done) that you run a humidifier in the room housing your guitars (40-50% humidity is perfect). I recommend the HoneywellHoneywell HCM-6009 QuietCare 9-Gallon Output Console Humidifier with Air Washing TechnologyRead more

I didn’t know I could love her more. I’ve plucked her and strummed her and left her laying on the couch far too long. And so have you internet stranger. Unleash your inner obligation to pick up your guitar, or at least stare it it with lust. I found the design wonderful as I uncovered the perfect tension and angle to hold my Tele bonita straight and with plenty of clearance along the wall. You see, you turn the hanger so it fits your fiddle. Pretty cool man. Anyway, install was a breeze with a screw gun and a short level. I’m sure you could manage with a screw driver and a good eyeballin’. Trick is to get one screw in and then sort out the rest. Also, find your stud first. Just tap on the wall across. You’ll know when you have one. IT will sound more solid. Good luck internet strangers. P.S. I found the screws provided plenty good for the task.Read more

The product itself does deserve 5 stars but instructions wise a 2 star. I had to mount one of these not using a stud in the wall. No good instruction on what drill bit size to use. I drilled a 5/16 hole and the plastic anchors won’t screw in. I guess I could keep drilling bigger holes but I am going to go offset and use a stud instead of the anchor.I tried a different anchor and unfortunately the holes are too big for it. So now I am going to have to mount off center so I can use the stud. 2 holes to repair. Made in the USA, plastic spacers, crappy instructions, I expect this crap buying chinese stuff but not usa stuff. Oh well. I should have spent the 25 bucks and got the better ones. Actually I did that in my bedroom and am completely happy with those. Spend the extra money. God, when will I learn!!!!!Read more

A sturdy, simple and attractive hook that holds my acoustic guitar perfectly on the wall. The only downside is that as an American product, it comes with plugs for drywall, which is far less common in Britain. That’s not a problem if you have a ‘man drawer’ full of spare screws and rawlplugs, but 4 instead of 5 stars for the minor inconvenience.Read more

This is so much better than I was expecting. Didn’t realise it would come with special plugs for plasterboard walls. They work amazingly well and my Les Paul now hangs very solidly, even with my daughter yanking on it now and then. The guitar hangs proud of the wall so your paint doesn’t scratch. Just an all round great bit of kit. Very impressed and would happily buy again.Read more

Quality guitar wall mounting hook. Make sure you’re drilling into a solid (brick) wall with a masonry drill bit to ensure proper anchorage, especially if you’re wall mounting an expensive guitar. You can wall mount into a dry wall or non-brickwork with the drywall plugs provided but I wouldn’t recommend it. For heavy guitars like Gibsons I would definitely avoid mounting on a soft wall.Read more

Cheap and nasty plastic pigtails fixings made a complete mess of my wall. Being that this is the #1 selling guitar hanger according to the packaging I’m disappointed, how plastic is supposed to cut through plasterboard I have no idea, followed instructions and as soon as screws went in, tightening just worked the fixing out. So now a 10 minute job becomes 4 times longer, 1 to repair the mess and 2 to put some proper wall anchors in. Not happy.Read more
