As you may know, KN95 respirators are the Chinese version of N95. How do you know if you are getting a legit one? I’ll detail that below. We’ve tried the Amazon best sellers and they are not all the same. Read on for a detailed evaluations: EVENTRONIC: We had twice ordered Eventronic before despite very poor customer service. We had twice asked a question of the company with no response. We ordered again because Eventronic masks were well made and comfortable for the family. Unfortunately, are third and forth orders were a different design and uncomfortably tight for me. Although may colleagues may disagree, I do not have a big head! This might be an ok choice for petite women and growing kids. SUNCOO: By the most expensive mask was the Suncoo at .70 each. Sadly, these were also ridiculously tight and unwearable. Back they went! WWDOLL: After the Eventronic design had changed to one that was uncomfortable, I thought I had found a winner in WWDOLL despite the fact these smell like gas when first putting them on. I reluctantly “tried” to overlook that because the fit was comfy. However, when I started wearing I noticed they were uncomfortably hot. I took a closer look at the mask. The white inner layers are thick and puffy. Imagine a flannel shirt for your face on a warm spring day. Back they went, too. BONCARE: These are the cheapest mask at between .44 and .55 each. The price seems to jump around and always check for a coupon, too. They do meet the Goldilocks criteria. I’d describe as ever so slightly tight upon first impression but then comfortable. The nose is a little pointy—many like that for comfort, including eyeglass wearers avoiding a foggy face! These are the winner for us and we’ve tried black and white. HOW DO YOU ARE GETTING TRUE 95% PROTECTION? The CDC has information on which have be NIOSH approved, and which have been rejected for not meeting a 95% filtration threshold. Most brands do not bother to test since but I do find all but one of the brands above worthy yet I worry about the WWDOLL’s odd puffy layers. Of note, no NIOSH certified mask has an ear loop design like these and most other available KN95 masks. The NIOSH certified designs have head bands. It’s possible that Weini does not seek out NIOSH certification. That does not mean it is not a good mask, though. Eventronic masks were made by Weini but as I mentioned, the design has now changed so they may be buying from a different manufacturer. The CDC website reveals that two of Weini’s masks have been tested through the “NPPTL Respirator Assessments to Support Covid-19 Response” with good results. Of the first model tested, the maximum and minimum filter efficiency was 99.62% and 97.62%, respectively. All thirty respirators measured more than 95%. For the second model, he maximum and minimum filter efficiency was 99.62% and 97.62%, respectively. All thirty respirators measured more than 95%. Note that some N95 masks have the NIOSH markings right on the mask but none in this style does. In fact, no mask with this type of ear loop qualifies for this marking. This earloop style is also far more practical than the NIOSH headband approved style. CONCLUSION: Hope this too long review has been of some help for you and that all of us will soon be wearing masks FAR less often. From our family to yours, we believe that better times are soon ahead!Read more

It’s been a miserable year for this glasses-wearer. I’ve tried everything from de-fogging sprays (don’t work) to taping my mask to my face (works, but uncomfortable and awkward). Finally, a friend gave me a KN 95 mask and it was magic!!! I tried to find a similar mask online since my friend had gotten it from a friend. This one looked the closest to my original one. Although it is not exactly the same (my glasses fog occasionally when I am rushing around or stressed/sweaty) it’s 95% as good. This mask fits tight, creates a space to breathe without the mask sucking into your face, and has a strong metal bar at the nose bridge that you can mold fairly well. (The very top of the bridge does not QUITE round over my nose, hence very occasional fogging). I like that these are black. They are also sturdy and I typically re-use them several times (occasionally Lysol the outside of it and hang it up to air out). I also like the individual packaging, you can slip them in a purse or give one to a friend and know it’s sterile. Highly recommend for my fellow four-eyed friends.Read more

I’ve used the same SUNCOO KN95 Face Mask but in the color white which were very comfortable. Now available in black! What’s the difference between a KN95 vs N95? N95s are manufactured in the USA. Despite that, there’s no reason to doubt KN95s unless you have a rare allergic reaction to the minor differences during the manufacturing process. These KN95 masks are Made in China. The white masks box I received came with a quality certificate certifying the KN95 masks for two years from date of manufacturing. These black masks did NOT come with that same certificate. Despite that, that certificate with the white masks was the first time I’ve seen a certificate like that so I wouldn’t be too worried if it doesn’t come with one. Each box has 20 masks each individually wrapped which is great for grab-n-go. -Comfort, 5/5 stars; The material of the mask’s cup and ear loop bands are very soft making it very comfortable for prolonged use. -Stretch, 5/5 stars; The masks ear loops are a bit short compared to other similar masks, however, the ear loop bands are very stretchable without causing any discomfort. I’ve used other KN95s and N95s where the stretchable ear loops deteriorated/snapped the ear loops or caused pain around the ear, this was not the case. -Thickness, 5/5 stars; Feeling the thickness of the mask cup, it is as thick as similar masks but definitely softer than most. I’m not sure if that affects the effectiveness of the mask, however, if it performs just as well as other 95s, this mask works. I’ve mainly been using disposable surgical masks during this last Covid-19 year, however, there are times where I would be doing activities which require the use of a KN95/N95, SUNCOO does a solid job with their KN95 masks and I’d recommend them if you’re looking in this price range. *Read more

I have worn a variety of masks over the last 9 months. I am surprised at how comfortable this one is. I have used other KN95 masks that seem to pull more on my ears. This one doesn’t seem to pull as much and the loop is a soft fabric, so it feels more comfortable. It is pulls more than a surgical mask, but that is necessary to get the tighter fit of a KN95. This seems to fit very well. It covers my nose and is tight to my face down to under my chin. It has a flexible metal piece on the nose that is easily shaped to get a good fit. I have no problem breathing with the mask on but appreciate the extra protection of KN95. I also really like how the “KN95” is stamped into the mask, not written in a different color. So the entire mask including the ear loops are black. It definitely has a more stylish look than most KN95 masks. Very happy overall with this mask.Read more
