When I was growing up, Meade and Celestron were the big telescope makers, and I still think they make great products. But honestly now there are less-known bands that are killing it with similar optics at a lower price point. I owned a three-thousand dollar computer-controlled Celestron several years ago and– while the image quality was amazing– it was so much work that in two or three years I think I used it twice. It took so much time to haul outside and setup. I’m older now and much more into small, portable telescopes. This is one of two telescopes I recently picked up. One for me (a white refractor for me), and the other (this Maksutov-Cassegrain) for my son. The kit came very nicely boxed with plenty of protection. Setup was easy. Many telescopes come with tripods that are embarrassingly poor in quality. This one, by contrast, was a real surprise. This is an excellent camera tripod with detachable mounting plate, and is sturdy and fully adjustable. It is a very nice tripod. The look and feel of the telescope is good. It feels solid, the focus adjustments are smooth, and the finish on the actual telescope tube is a matte, spackled sort of color and texture. The image quality of the telescope is excellent. Certainly good enough for a starter scope. I think this would make an excellent terrestrial scope for bird watching and it would also be a very good scope for getting an adult or child into astronomy. The kit comes with an adapter that makes mounting your cell phone to the telescope easy. I wish the clamp was a simply spring-loaded deal, but rather you screw it to clamp it or unscrew it to loosen it. This is a very, very minor complaint because the fact that this device is even included is wonderful. Lining everything up perfectly is honestly tricky, but that is no fault of the kit– it’s just a matter of precision and everything has to be just right. For my test shot here shown in the images, I photographed a neighbor’s chimney and roof on a sunny day at 93 yards or 85 meters away. This could give you some idea of what the sharpness looks like. This is a great starter telescope and I’d highly recommend it. Not only will I be using the telescope to view the moon and some of the more prominent planets, but I will definitely use the tripod independently for camera and video work because it’s an excellent tripoding it’s own right. Happy Star Gazing!Read more

I have a great view of the sky in our new house and without light pollution…hence the reason I went ahead and bought this telescope. It had everything I wanted for a beginners price. I am able to see the craters and shadows on the moon pretty good. I can also see Mercury and Venus as they are relatively close to earth. I can see a glimpse of Mars as a disc as well but it has to be very good conditions. Currently, i’m working on see the rings of saturn and some of its moons. The actual telescope is pretty easy to use but I suggest watching a couple videos online to understand what you are doing… You can’t just point this at the sky and expect to see anything. ALthough they make it pretty easy with this set up. I also really like the tripod that came along with this. Very easy to raise lower, angle etc… Good LuckRead more

Not at all advertised I’ve tried all diff ways can’t get nothing but the moon the telescope is very loose on top have to use a scre driver to tighten n u tighten the latch so stays in one place not loose I should have listened to my better judgment smh Update from messing with this telescope I’ve hurt my back I’ve tired everything to rig it the thing is a piece of garbage I threw it in the garbage DONT BUY I spend more time trying to adjust and fix the telescope then I do get to enjoy looking at the stars the skies whatever the thing doesn’t turn when you want it to it’s too tight then when you try to tighten a thing it just keeps falling down n now that’s with no phone on it now imagine the telescope with a phone on it imagine how fast it goes down then you get the object and think you’re good and looking into the scope then you got to readjust it again and push it back up or push it to the side the thing is ridiculous if you don’t want aggravation n back problem this is not recommended on all these reviews listen to the ones that say disappointed listen to the negativity ones I want my money back and I’m not sending it back because it’s in the garage I can send a picture of that too if you want me to the stand is very wobbly when you extend it the telescope is horrible I want my money back ASAP my back has been screwed up for the past week my nerves are bad in my back making my arms numb everything it’s caused me more aggravation n pain than enjoyment as it’s possibly having to lift it up and down to readjust it’s heavy after a while of having to readjust imagine doing that all night long and not getting a chance to view the object unless u hold the scope with ur hands I guess I’ve seen Saturn I’ve seen the moon I’ve seen Jupiter but trying to get the thing to stay without hurting yourself and constantly adjusting and having to hold the telescope this telescope is just not recommended Give me my money backRead more

I really love how clearly and accurately this scope works with it’s optics. I have used it during the day and night and loved the functionality of it and best of all high quality. The tripod alone is made of a very high quality material and is sturdy, unlike cheap tripods that other scopes offer. I will soon take some great photos and post them. Operating this scope is very easy and assembly was a breeze!Read more

Once you get it tightened down so it doesn’t wobble like a chicken with a broken neck…it is then not easy to move smoothly to find your object, it sticks and is jerky as if it needed lubricated. When you finally get the moon in your vision the depth of field is off, the craters pop out at you which makes it look like water drops on your lens or the moon.Read more

This was my first time owning a telescope and this one was as easy as it gets to put together. The instructions on how to use it were very easy as well. I was able to look at the Wolf Moon and it was spectacular. Once I get better at this hobby, I will absolutely purchase an upgraded scope from them. Thank you.!Read more
