I read an article that said to put these on the pole to your bird feeder so that a squirrel could not climb up the pole and feed on your birdseed. It actually DOES work – the squirrel jumps on the slinky, slides down to the ground and never makes it up the pole. Again and again he tries, and again and again he fails. It is the least expensive fix I’ve found to take and will save me a bunch on birdseed.Read more

This Slinky Junior is not the Slinky Junior I already have. Whether they cheapened the product because of cost cutting, or its counterfeit, I do not know. But it is disappointing. And to me, yes, the reduced spirals do make a difference. One could make the argument that all the original Slinkys were designed with a specific number of metal spirals for a specific ergonomic design-minded reason. That would make this specific Slinky that I just received, inferior, and a downgrade from the original design. There are others available on Amazon, and elsewhere. I will return this order and continue my search. Image attached to review.Read more

I bought these not for use as toys, but to squirrel proof my bird feeders, and keep birds off the roof framing on my back porch. As a squirrel deterrent they proved effective and entertaining. For deterring birds from roosting where you don’t want them, they’re effective and cheaper than commercial bird spikes.Read more

I bought the slinkies to help my problem with squirrels…..the squirrels were eating my bird food……so I put the small size slinkies on the pole holding the bird food and watched and laughed as the squirrels would run up the pole, get to the slinky and would take a swing or two and jump off………Read more

I have to update my review — the squirrels have figured out how to get to my birdfeeder, despite having the junior slinky around the pole. Basically the squirrels rappel quickly up the pole, fast enough that they don’t rest on the slinky. I think the problem would be solved with a wider-diameter slinky because their legs wouldn’t be able to reach the pole past the coils. Will purchase the original wider-diameter version and try again. I tried the junior version first because I thought it would be less unsightly. ————— PREVIOUS: Purchased to keep squirrels off the bird feeder; works perfectly!Read more

Small metal Slinkys are infinitely more fun than the cheap plastic Slinkys you may have received as a cheap party favor or as an arcade prize. These are smaller than the “classic” slinky, which actually makes them great as a small toy for desks and offices, since you can fidget with them with just one hand. I’ve had one or more on my various home/school/work desks over the last few years and everyone loves to play with them. I give them out all the time as small gifts, stocking stuffers, etc. These Slinkys are about 1.5-inch tall when compressed and about 1.5-inch diameter. They easily stretch out to about 6 feet without being damaged.Read more

Used along with 1″ Slinkys to print a pattern with dye on cloth material. Can still be a kid again and play with them afterwards. You soon realize why the old TV ads showed the Slinky going down just a few steps – you need the perfect size steps for the particular size Slinky, and steps are standardized within narrow limits by building codes so that we don’t break our necks in the dark. It’ll still make you laugh on even one step, the thing looks so alive.Read more

In looking at amazon I noticed that 1 slinky is about 11 dollars whereas 5 was about 13.50 so, I went for the multipack. I would have rather gone to the dollar store, I’m sure I could have found a full size off name slinky for a dollar or two but because of COVID, I am avoiding stores… I recently bought a birdfeeder and some fairly expensive seed for cardinals. Quickly the greedy squirrels discovered how to climb up the sheppard hook and were enjoying a free all you can eat buffet. When I saw this I looked up squirrel prevention methods. The simplest one was attaching a slinky to the feeder pole. One slinky (as they are the jr size) was not long enough. Originally I tried one, but the squirrel could jump over it. I had to rig 2 slinky’s together to cover the length of the pole. SUCCESS! Squirrels are no longer enjoying a free buffet and, cardinals, bluejays and oriole are! Thanks to 2 slinky’s I have a rainbow of birds in my backyard! I do believe this slinky will rust, but if it does I have 3 more that I can use to replace the current set up. Value for money.. 4 / 5 (in comparison to buying 1 unit at a time… reducing a star because I know I could get it cheaper at a retail store) Sturdiness… IT”S A SLINKY… In a way it gets 0 / 5 stars because the point of a slinky is to NOT BE STURDY 🙂 But, I am giving 4/5 because it is exactly what it is supposed to be… but it does bend (can get damaged) easily.Read more

I was expecting a regular size slinky but finally, this smaller size is probably better for threading on the metal pole holding my bird feeder to deter squirrels. Will post again if it works! Not giving 5 stars because size not properly advertised.Read more

The boxes were soaking wet (smelled like vinegar) and squished but the shipping envelope was dry so I assume they were packaged in this condition, was bought as stocking stuffers but can’t be used. Waste of moneyRead more
