So I left a pretty nasty review before, and don’t get me wrong, it was completely warranted due to this product being advertised as U2F compliant when it was not integrating properly with a multitude of different applications that were supposed to be U2F compatible. I didn’t ever get rid of my key, but I just let it sit in my backpack for a while. But while changing my passwords and rotating my BitWarden encryption key, I decided to see if this thing would work again. Currently I am running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and use Firefox as my primary browser, and have BitWarden as my keychain. Now I am actually having no issues with this Thetis key being my second factor for my keychain, and I use my AndOTP token manager on my phone as a backup second factor. The build quality still feels a little flimsy, but honestly I don’t really care about that. I just want a physical hardware token to be used for securing my password keychain, and it works perfectly fine now! Admittedly I don’t know if this was a software issue with BitWarden or with Ubuntu or Thetis, but now the product is working normally and I have gotten what I was looking for. As with all my other reviews, this product is fully functional now and deserves a 5/5 in my book!Read more

To begin, I am not a technology driven individual. That being said, the ONLY reason I purchased this product is because my bank, after many years of no problem usage, discontinued the use of the token I used to conduct transfers between banks. I was told that I would need a gizmo that was FIDO-2 compatible and suggested getting one via the internet. I did what was suggested ONLY because I had no other choice in the matter. So, as is my custom when confronted with mega choices on Amazon, I went with ” Amazon’s Best”. Now, I have been burned doing this in the past but given the number of times I did this verses the number of times I was burned, the odds were in my favor. The product arrived and after I unpacked it and located the instructions and then located a magnifier to read the instructions, I attempted to install this device. To make a long story short, the installation didn’t look like anything told to me by the instructions and I have absolutely no idea whether this product is installed and if so, whether it will work when I need it to. Fortunately, I still have some time before my bank shuts down the token I now use and I have no immediate need to do a funds transfer, I can possibly either get some help with this or return it for something more non- technical user friendly or no longer have the ability to transfer funds.Read more

The key works flawlessly with Google’s 2 factor authentication. I was able to get it set up on Chrome browser in Windows 10 without needing to install any drivers. Logging in simply requires pressing the button on the key when prompted. The key is small and designed for durability. The Type C adapter works easily on my Android phone (Android 9) but only on the Chrome browser. The adapter is a nice to have but I won’t be using it much. If you haven’t secured your critical accounts with 2-factor authentication (2fa), I highly recommend you do it immediately. There are soft 2fa keys like Google Authenticator and Authy but nothing beats having a physical hardware key.Read more

So far I’ve found that this Thetis hardware key works with Google perfectly. However, as far as the technology goes… I can’t get either this or a Yubi key to work with the federal ID system. I can’t get either this or a Yubi key to work with my windows 10 notebook. I’m happy to have the capability and really like to have a physical key for dual authentication, but I have a feeling that this tech is still a little on the cutting edge. Neither of my Credit Union accounts support it, and I don’t think that any of my investment accounts do either. Those are the ones I’d really like to clamp down. I’ll try to update this as I try different things. The Thetis key I have is working just as good as my Yubi and was cheaper.Read more

This little device does more then I anticipated that it would. I really loved and appreciated that the Thetis Fido U2F Security Key came with a USB-C adaptor. I am using the key with my MacBook Pro which I got earlier this year. The device works with multiple systems and websites. Personally I use my security key for DUO which is required fro me to use by my work. No more having to dig my phone out of my bag to access works internal websites. In addition to DUO Thetis FIDO U2F Security Key works with Google, Facebook, Salesforce, GitHub, and Dashline. The Thetis website says that the device will soon be compatible with Amazon and LastPass (once they offer two-step varification). I found the website to be extremely helpful when setting my Key. They included written instructions as well as photos from the websites when I was looking to connect my key as the second form of verification.Read more

This key does work as expected for email or Facebook. However, I wanted to use it for Amazon Web services through Duo. Which is a 2FA application. It does have documentation on how to set it up with Duo, but it wouldn’t work for me. Mine also came with a convenient adapter from usb to usb-c for my Mac, however the usb-c would not insert all of the way into the port. I am able to plug other things into it with no problem, but this adapter wouldn’t seat all the way, even with much force. I would recommend this if your intention is to use it with Facebook or email.Read more

This is a fantastic little tool! I used to to secure my Dropbox account although there are other accounts that this little doohickey will work with such as Google, Facebook, Dropbox, GitHub, SalesForce, Dashlane, GitLab, BitBucket, and FastMail. Works with a Mac although I used with a PC. Setup can be a little trickey depending upon which service you’re using but Dropbox was pretty straight forward. Once everything is setup, it’s a breeze to use. just plug it in when you’re about to login and press the button on the USB device! My only worry is losing it!Read more

Whilst this is a very easy U2F Security Key to use it does have some limitation where and on what you can use it. It’s great for 1Password, PC and Mac, but not suitable for Windows Hello. My recommendation is you make a list of items you need the U2F Security Key for and then do your own homework. I believe it’s just early days for this company as the product works very well, albeit limited.Read more
