Good deal on a pair of very convenient sketch tablets. And these are SKETCH tablets – not watercolor paper. I’ve written and sketched on them with Uniball roller pens and with a good fountain pen, and neither has bled through. Note that they are listed as 60-lb paper, which can be confusing. Paper-weight is designated on several different standards. Most of us are familiar with the paper used in copiers and printers, which is most often a 20-lb. BOND. The paper in these tablets appears to be a 60-lb OFFSET, which is a different standard and does not mean a paper three times as heavy as the copier paper. It’s slightly heavier than copier paper, but only to a degree that would be noticed by a printer or someone else who uses a lot of different paper weights. Don’t buy this thinking you’re getting a watercolor-weight paper.Read more

I gave these sketchbooks to my nephew with a set of pencils and markers and a how to sketch book hoping he’d become the next Van Gogh. Well, he quickly decided he could not possibly draw the things in the book. But, he ended up sharing the pads with his little sister because the high quality paper is the only kind they have that doesn’t bleed. They really like to color with markers, and this lets them do that without destroying what’s underneath. So, it ended up being a good gift.Read more

This sketchbook is a great size and the paper is okay.. I mean it’s alright for sketching and light inking but I find it’s way too thin and doesn’t have enough tooth for colored pencils. I did try Copic markers and while it did go though the paper completely, I had a piece of watercolor paper behind it and none of the marker soaked though to that. So markers I guess do alright. I was thinking I’d try watercolors on it too, but yeah, I’d not trust it for that. But I bought this mainly to slide into my pencil case for quick sketches and some color pencil to throw colors on them. So I guess I’m feeling less than satisfied but I guess satisfied enough that I’ll still be using it, just not how I had planned to. I guess markers and ink is pretty much all I’ll be able to use it for.Read more

It is very nice paper, but I am not sure how it is 0.005″ thick is 60bl paper some other standard 60lb i have is 0.010″. About twice as thick. The standard college-rule i use is .035″. NOT as advertised. (I used a Brown & Sharpe dial-caliper for all measurements)Read more

I really like these. I keep one in my backpack for travel, and it doesn’t take up too much space. I appreciate that they have a hard cardboard back, which is something I look for because I like to draw while sitting on the floor and other places that don’t have a flat surface. I’m not an expert on sketchbooks by any means, but I like the paper quality. It’s better than that of the few other sketchbooks I have.Read more

The pad is nice. The paper has reasonable thickness, but it seems to be just a couple of steps up from printer paper. It’s not as smooth and slick as printer paper, this does have a bit more roughness, but it’s good for drawing on. Lead WILL smear all over the place on this paper with little effort, so if you’re thinking of using it professionally, for production, you’ll probably end up frustrated. I use it just to sketch throwaways simply for the practice of it and it’s quite useful for that. The pad itself is very thick as it has 100 individual pages. And while it’s small, dimension wise, the thickness makes is not as portable as I thought it’d be. I have a small 13 inch laptop with a bag that I take with me everywhere, and this pad would not fit in it due to it being very thick and from the massive size of the ring. I would have loved something half as thick with no ring to be able to fit it in my bag. But overall, I am happy with the product as it is and would probably buy more as I need it.Read more

I got these pads for my kids to use in art class. They’re only 5 and 7 and not exactly Picasso if you know what I mean. They work for what they were intended for (drawing with pencils and crayons). I do wish there was a perforated edge on the top but it’s not something that bothers me that much. Kids like them, particularly my daughter. She really loves to draw. I would definitely recommend these pads. Not much to complain about here!Read more
