Awesome product. Been looking for an Ethernet adapter that is compatible with my Firestick 4K and have extra drive or storage. Easy to use, plug and play. Then checked my Firestick 4K connection it says WIRED. Afterwards I ran a speed test, it’s 235 Mbps download speed without VPN. And 80.87 Mbps with IPVANISH VPN. Works as intended.Read more

Works great on my Nintendo Switch. You may need to be sure your switch has all the system updates as one of the early updates in 2017 added more USB drivers not present at launch. I ran an ethernet cable and a Nintendo OEM Charging Grip for joycon that work fine. The Joy-con act as a wired controller and charge at a normal rate through this adapter. I do NOT have the sold-sepatately AC adapter/power supply and have not had any problems. Though I may order one later for peace of mind. (Edit: got one, works great) I still need to test my WiiU version USB to GameCube controller adapter through this. Sounds like that’ll probably be compatible with the next Super Smash Brothers Ultimate game and so it’ll be nice if I can use this for the TWO usb ports on the GC adapter. Edit: works great with the Game cube adapter. Used it for wired Ethernet and GC Controllers on Mario Kart 8 DeluxeRead more

Well, I really wanted to like this USB hub. It was slick looking and compact and had a good feel to it. It would have done the trick for this Surface 4 pro, with only one 3.0 USB port, but the promise is great by the manufacturer and the execution of the product is poor. I am somewhat of an IT guy, it’s just not what I do for a living anymore, so this is not one of those reviews where you have to wonder if the author knows what they are talking about or not, I do. I will keep all the terms of the review in plain language. This hub is ok, IF all you are doing is adding USB 2.0 speed devices and do not plan to ever disconnect them. (except for a hard drive.) One of its main problems is that once you plug, say, a bluetooth device, and a portable hard drive into it, it can see them, but if you want to just command a shutdown and disconnection of the hard drive but not the bluetooth device, too bad, so sad- not possible. This hub treats everything that is plugged into it as 1 item, even though you can see them listed individually, you can only (properly and safely) remove all of them, but not one at a time. But wait, there’s more!– speeds as I tested them are NOT 3.0, in fact the hub continuously hiccups and slows down the transfer of data even on the simplest one page documents. Three times during my evaluation period, the computer would not shutdown, because the process of shutdown between the external hard drive was in a continuous loop of useless info going back and forth through the hub. Eventually, (after 10 minutes of waiting for a shutdown), I had to unplug the external drive itself from the hub, (at great risk of a loss of data on the drive ,and not good for the computer either!), since neither the computer or the external drive would shut down on their own. (mind you, I experienced this on three different shutdown events.) —Extra power needed because it is a hard drive you say?- Yea, well the process was attempted WITH and WITHOUT an additional 5V power input cable to power the hub. No difference, in fact, if you try that you will find that the external drive, and the hub itself, WILL NOT shut down AT ALL when powered via the 5V input port, even if the computer is off! (the blue lights on the top of the hub stay lit and the hard drive just keeps on a’spinning). Wow, sad, and a deal breaker. Lastly, when used with a bluetooth mouse, the range is VERY erratic. Sometimes you can get several feet away, but unfortunately I found that to be unreliable and it would twitch and jump all over the screen. You must stay within 9 to 10 inches, max. Even then you still get twitches, they are just minimized. The only thing that seemed to work well was the hard-wire RJ-45 input. I experienced no issues there. All of the equipment I was using was less that 3 months old so there were no problems with my equipment. And BTW, as soon as I removed the hub and attached things individually, all the items worked without a hitch and full 3.0 speed capability was restored. I would not recommend this unit. Eventually, if I kept trying to use it there would certainly be a loss of data, or worse. Two stars might be a little generous.Read more

LAN Port works good -BUT- even after adding a universal power adapter, my small LCD Display Panel still doesn’t power up, The LCD Display Panel does work without any issues on my older Anker USB hub with the same power adapter that doesn’t work on the UGREEN USB 3.0 Hub Ethernet Adapter 10/100/1000 Gigabit Network Converter with USB 3.0 Hub. In short, I wasted my money on this Hub as all I gained was a LAN port and I still have to use the older Anker Hub with my LCD Display Panel. I should have bought a USB LAN Adapter and used it on the Anker Hub. I do not recommend this HUB and I will refrain from buying UGREEN from now on.Read more

UGREEN came through again, I continue to really like the products that UGREEN delivers. This Gigabit USB3 adapter worked out of the box, with ZERO setup. 1) plugged it in to the PC 2) connected the ethernet cable. 3) browsed the web and viewed local LAN shares NO PROBLEMS whatsoever. After checking out the device properties i verified it was indeed connecting a 1 Gbit and the active settings were all reasonable. I really like that all of the drivers were native windows WHQL certified and nothing needed to be installed. The unit was slightly warm (if it was coffee it wouldn’t be warm enough). —– technical mumbo jumbo TL DR; follows…. The chipset inside the unit provides the nifty operations you want from a modern internet adapter. checksum offload, large send offload, jumbo packets, priority & VLAN, energy conservation, automatic cable length detection, wake on lan, wake on link, wake on pattern, wake on magic packet, ARP offload, NS offload. (i tested none of this, im just noting that the chipset offers it and the windows 10 drivers support it) There is a mini CD that contains drivers for windows versions < 10. including mac and linux. The linux drivers include source code. The manufacturers web site was very open about certification and compliance and even provide gerbers and schematics for embedded applications that want to use the chipset,Read more

Read more

I’ve been struggling with the dreaded circle of frustration when streaming shows etc. Dedpite gave a genuine 50Mb download speed (usually delivers 35-40) .. with a Firedtick .. I was restricted to wi-fi. Not now! I’m lucky to gave an ethernet connection available so this was the perfect upgrade for me. I bought the 4k Firestick because my original FireTV was feeling a bit “sluggish” .. so all in all.. the whole experience is lightening fast. I also have a 64gb USB stick and bluetooth mini keyboard plugged in. Leaving one USB port spare. The green unit comes very well packaged … and clear instructions although I looked it up on YouTube first. Highly recommended but it’s a no brainer if you have an ethernet connection available. Yes wi-fi can be just as fast but in my house there are too many competing devices for bandwidth that I prefer to have online. Enjoy!Read more

I have had uGreen products in the past and have overall been most happy with them. Depending on your needs this may be perfect as a Gigabit LAN option over USB 3. Overall, the build quality is average, not particularly solid and no individual USB switches to turn on and off sticks or drives that you might have plugged into it. You can see in photo 5 the small multi language booklet that comes with it, as well as a mini CD for drivers. No drivers were needed when I tested its LAN capabilities when plugged into my main PC’s USB 3 port. Windows 10×64 being the OS. In photo 4 you can see the transfer speed over the LAN (around 125MB/s is the theoretical max and it typically achieves 108MB/s or so) in the respects of LAN performance over a Gigabit LAN and Windows 10 it is great. Then I connected it to my Amazon Cube via an adaptor. A few things to consider ….. USB 1 and 2 max power output is 500mA and USB 3 is 900mA. That is the maximum that can be drawn over these ports, but you will have to see each devices spec to ensure that it complies with that and is not further reduced. As an example our newish Sony TV allows 500mA per port. Attaching it to our Cube, take a look at photo 1, you will see that it draws around 135mA whilst streaming over the LAN. That is with no USB devices connected to its hub. Then I attach a 2.5″ HD to its hub, see photo 2, and that drive alone will draw up to 450mA or so when in use to stream. That is just from the USB port the drive is connecting to and if it was using the LAN connection at the time then the overall power draw could be more than a USB 2 spec could allow. I appreciate then that a power port is offered on the device just for situations like I have described above. See photo 3. But why hasn’t that power port been made as a std Micro USB type port, as they are far more common as a std that many of us have with so many devices needing such a 5v supply ….? It does remind me of the situation we were in prior to phone makers needing to adopt one common std for the charging of them, we needed an individual charger for each device we had…! It could have been a Micro USB port and that would have been great. I object to having to buy another 5v power supply, I can’t even see one listed. So for some who need a Gigabit LAN port on their device that is compatible then it is fine, but this device is more than that, it is a USB 3 multi hub as well. Just be wary of what you are plugging into it and using the LAN at the same time without an external power supply. A pity that uGreen has made this otherwise useful device to use a non std 5v power port. As mentioned previously it would have also been useful to have those three USB ports switchable, if you have a mix of high and lower powered devices connected you could then switch them rather than having to plug and unplug each time. It might just suit our needs overall but I would suggest that you think about your own needs and be wary that you do not try and draw too much power from your USB port when connected, USB 1 and 2 only able to supply 500mA. I do hope that this review has helped you. Happy shopping.Read more

So, the first unit i received had an issue with the main power USB plug. When it was clicked in all the way to make sure it didn’t fall out, the power stopped and the lights went out. If i left it out part way it was fine. That way it works perfectly with my Amazon Fire stick allowing Ethernet connection. So i contacted them and after much back and forth they finally believed me when i linked them to a YouTube video of it happening. So they sent another. This one works perfectly well when it comes to that power plug issue and the USB ports work fine (not why i bought it). However, the Ethernet port doesn’t work. Their response this time was that many thousands have been sold and they haven’t had two consecutive devices being faulty and that it isn’t meant to work with the Fire stick and to buy a different adaptor from them (that isn’t gigabit Ethernet which i want). I confirmed that was wrong as their first adaptor works perfectly in this setup and simple can’t be plugged in properly so has the risk of falling out. I really don’t know why they say one thing that they know is incorrect after I’ve confirmed to them it worked that way with the first one they had sent?Read more

Bought this to use with the Nintendo Switch on a Lightning Deal and for this purpose it works well. Make sure you put it in the USB slot at the back of the dock (as this is the only USB 3.0 slot) and the Switch will automatically recognize it and connect to the internet via wired LAN. If it does not you can easily change this in the Switch settings. Be aware that this adapter, like many others when being used with the Switch, will cause the Switch to remain warm while in sleep mode (if the dock is powered). This may affect the battery, but your mileage may vary. This is not an issue with the adapter but supposedly an issue following a Switch software update. Other than that small issue the adapter works well for my purposes! Highly recommended.Read more
