This is a great little stereo amplifier with 3 RCA inputs for Aux 1, Aux2 and CD. There’s also a high impedance microphone input (1/4″ jack) and a spare Aux input (1/8″ jack) on the front panel. The front panel controls are Input Select, Balance, Treble, Bass, Master Volume and a mic input level volume. Outputs are L & R speaker terminals, Record out (flat) and Phones. There are switches for Mixing the mic with main program material, a Pager setting for the mic, a On/Off power switch and a voltage selector (110/240). It’s very well built, solid and looks high quality. Listening tests on quality speakers (JR149s) plus passive sub woofer sounds to me exactly as good as my normal home HiFi on different types of program material. It’s subjective but honestly, I couldn’t tell the difference so sounds great. Now for some technical stuff. As I have a digital scope & a sig generator I measured the frequency response into a resistive load (8 ohms) and it was as advertised (in linear region ie: no distortion). I ran a 1KHz square wave at several different levels (short of clipping) and the unit showed no signs of ringing or instability which is very good. Then for the not so good….. The unit is advertised as being able to source 2 x 120 watts into a 4 ohm load. My measurements showed using a 200Hz and 1KHz sine wave that just below the onset of clipping it would provide 18.4v peak into 8 ohms and 15.2v peak into 4 ohms which translates into 21 watts RMS into 8 ohms and 29 watts RMS into 4 ohms per channel. So in reality my unit provides 2×30 RMS watts into 4 ohm and NOT the 2×120 watts as advertised. Some manufacturers provide misleading power info by advertising PEAK instantaneous output power without stating that it’s not true RMS power which is the only power that counts. Peak power divided by 4 equates to RMS power. You can’t really say it’s dishonest advertising so buyer beware!! So in summary, this is a superb high quality and versatile home stereo amp at an incredible price. Mine provides 21 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms (which most home speakers are) and should provide years of listening pleasure at reasonable volumes.Read more

This amp is advertised as a 2×120 Watt stereo amplifier. This is totally and completely FALSE. It is a 2×20 Watt amplifier at 1% THD (total harmonic distortion) as the included spec sheet states. And that is at 4 ohms. If your speakers are 8 ohms, figure half of that. I hate the way the electronics industry deliberately inflates claims so you think you are getting something you are not. If the auto industry did the same thing, your car would have a 4,000 HP engine. The only realistic way to rate an amp is by measuring continuous RMS output with both channels driven. And so that makes this a 2×20 Watt amp, not anything else. Aside from the blatant lies about power, it is a nice little amplifier. It has a useful set of inputs, one 3.5mm and three RCA type. The bass and treble controls have a wide degree of boost and cut, and the amp does not send a big “thump” to the speakers when first turned on. Input sensitivity is very good, so you will probably get full volume with the knob only 1/3 of the way up. Also, the unit does not seem to get hot when operating at high volume levels. After replacing one of these that failed several years ago, the one that worked just died, so I decided to replace it again. It’s the right mix of power and features I need. The latest arrival had a very noisy left channel on all inputs with the volume set at zero. So OK, these things are not tested before shipping, they frequently fail, and are likely to arrive DOA. Bought the first unit and two months later it would start cutting out. Turning the unit on and off several times worked for a while until it went dead altogether. Bought a second unit because the manufacturer warranty with pyle (not amazon warranty) requires you to pay for shipping there and $20 for a replacement unit and shipping back, which is BS bc I live about 5 miles away from where they ship!! This winds up being just about half or more than half the cost of the unit itself..so might as well buy a new one with amazon warranty. Less than a month later, same issue with it cutting out. My device was kept unobstructed and in a ventilated place, it’s never moved, so it most certainly is not something i am doing. Do not buy. Or if you must, buy the insurance!Read more

It looked good out of the box. Appeared to be solid. I used it for 7 months and then one day, the LEDs were not working and the volume was very low. I checked all the wires and reattached everything. Nothing would fix the problem. So, there is one user-replaceable fuse accessed on the back. I thought I would check the fuse–just in case. It has a slot for a Philips Head screw driver–I inserted the screw driver and turned. It was so tightly closed that when I turned it, it actually ripped the fuse and connections from the inside board. Now, it’s dead. Conclusion: 1. It only lasted 7 months. 2. I am not sure why the LEDs stopped working. 3. The volume was too low after it started to fail after the 7 months. 4. The one access point to replace something that could go wrong (the fuse) did not work. Trying to open it ripped it apart. 5. I now have to buy a replacement. I could have added the $70 or so from the purchase of this one to a better unit the first time. Separately, there was a lot of hiss when no sound was playing. This means the hiss is always there–it is just masked at higher volumes.Read more
