This replaces an older model that required a dedicated charger. USB charging cuts down tech clutter in your baggage, assuming that you have other (micro) USB chargeable devices and are already carrying a charger and USB A to micro USB cable. The idea of having the first click be warm (yellowish) light (like, maybe 2700 degrees K) and the second click adding “cool” light (more blue, mabe 6000 K) is very clever, and the combined color is easy on the eyes when reading. The dual heads are definitely better for extended reading in the dark. I carry this also for use as a flashlight, in case I need to get up and navigate in darkness in unfamiliar surroundings. While the shape, with those 2 googly tentacles sticking up, seems awkward, it makes it easy to grab in the dark and it can’t roll away. All that said, the battery life is much shorter than its predecessor. If you read in bed, you will want to charge it daily, or maybe every 2 days. Also, due to the placement of the on-off switches, this unit turns on in your luggage, unless you do something to keep things from pressing the switch buttons. It would be better if there was a master on-off switch — maybe a slide switch that would be harder to inadvertently activate.Read more

The toilet area in my bathroom is dark as it in a bit of a cubby between the vanity and the wall. I installed a floating shelf unit on the wall behind the toilet, but then needed light for it. I have motion detector LED lights in two of the cubes that work great at night, but wanted more lighting that would stay on when I wanted lighting in the day or in the evening. For my purpose, this light is close to perfect. I clipped it onto a top shelf, and was able to position the lights to get good coverage on almost the entire shelving unit. The brighter light is great for excellent lighting of the shelves, and the dim setting looks very good for accent lighting. This application is different than the intended use for these lights, but may help with ideas these lights can be used for other than using them as a book light. When I ordered this light in hopes of using them for the shelves in the bathroom, I also thought they would work well as a book light, for lighting a keyboard, or anywhere that lighting might be needed at night. They would definitely work for all of these purposes. What I love about them is that the brightness of the lighting can be adjusted and that the lighting can also be directed where needed. For book reading or for use on a music stand, the lighting can be adjusted to cover two pages instead of the light being concentrated in one spot. The dimmer setting works great in dark areas and is easier on the eyes when a bright light is not needed. I also love that this light is USB rechargeable, and that a constant supply of batteries is not needed. At this time, I can not attest as to how long one charge lasts, but I have had them constantly on for a few hours on the bright light, and, so far, have not had to recharge them. In summary, I would highly recommend this light if you are looking for this type of light, but the uses do not have to be limited to reading. I use this as my bedside light as well at this point. The two lights are a really nice touch, as I don’t have to move the light to read each page. The necks are very flexible, but strong enough to hold whatever shape you put them in. The two brightness settings are great too- the lowest setting is low enough that I can read easily without disturbing my husband (who falls asleep before me and wants the lights off), and the second setting, if used on both lights, is bright enough that I don’t use my bedside lamp anymore. The clip is great too- it’s wide enough that I can clip is on my book, or on my bedside drawer if I want the light to remain more stationary. It’s also really easy to recharge, and you can use it while it’s charging. You’ll notice the lights being a little dimmer when they need to be recharged. My only complaint, and it’s minuscule, is that the micro USB charger that comes with the light doesn’t really ‘snap’ into place well- however, there is a light to indicated it’s charging, so if the plug becomes loose you know to fix it right away, and all my other micro USB charges don’t have this problem, so it really isn’t a concern if you have other micro USB chargers.Read more

I tested a few different lights and this was the best one – it is rechargeable, which was important to me. One recharge lasts for over 6 hours and takes around 2 hours to recharge (I think). Gives a nice warm light and is sturdy enough to move into different positions.Read more
