First, I tried peanut butter first and here is the problem with that. I used creamy peanut butter because that’s what we had. I filled the little barrel at the top of the trigger. The crafty little mouse ate all the peanut butter out of all 12 traps without one triggering. So I told my wife, I need something that is sticky so that the mouse has to work for the food and will trigger the trap. Well my wife came up with the perfect bait. A chewy chocolate chip granola bar!!!! Man she hit the nail on the head with that suggestion. So here is what I did, I broke of small pieces of the granola bar and stuffed that barrel at the top of the trigger as full as I could get it. I mean pack it in there. Then the mouse will have to work for it. Look at the pics to see the results. I had a perfect trigger that hit the mouse right across the head/neck area for an instant kill. Photos attachedRead more

I bought some of the new ‘modern’ ‘high-tech’ ‘improved’ all plastic mouse traps in recent years, for _$10_ each! Sure those ‘new’ models are easier to ‘set’. You’re less likely to have one go off while setting it up. *But they’re also *ALOT* less sensitive than the old models: ergo you’re going to tend to find them untriggered & neatly licked clean by mice. *I’ve also found the plastic ones tend to break on the trigger plate. Pretty worthless $10 item, at that point. NONE of which applies to the old classics!: * They’re sensitive. Cuz the trigger is literally marginally hanging on the edge. Which means they’re fiddley to set up. It‘ll take some practice to get the hang of setting one. Take the time to figure it out before you bait it! * They’re tough as nails! Time-tested tech: Everyone’s found old ones still perfectly functional many decades after manufacture after many many mice. * They’re dirt cheap! I bought _12_ of these for $9! _$.75 CENTS APIECE! * unbelievably they’re STILL MADE IN THE USA in PA! w00t! * And best of all: THEY WORK! We threw out the crappy $10 plastic traps the mice had been cleaning off, and the night we got these , and got them set, we busted TWO of the cheeky little b**stards in the same spot in _THREE HOURS_! They may not be perfect, but they’re all I plan to use for mice moving forward. :DRead more

Every year when winter hits every outdoor mouse on our property tries to move inside to stay warm. And every year I have to set out traps all through my basement to get them all. My wife will tell you that the common phrase all throughout that time of year is that whenever you’re in a grocery store “get more of the Victor traps,” and “don’t bother buying anything except the Victor ones,” etc. All the other brands the mice would just lick clean, but the Victor ones would, about 9 out of 10, get the mouse. I was a Victor die-hard, always bragging to everyone that ever brought up their mouse problem that the reason they aren’t getting them is because they aren’t using the Victor traps. Get Victor, and it’ll fix your problem overnight. This year we made a run and bought 8 from a grocery store. Next morning…1 mouse dead, 7 traps licked clean. I’ve NEVER seen Victor traps act that poorly. So I re-set the ones without a dead mouse in them, and next morning all 7 licked clean. Did it again, next morning 6 licked clean, 1 dead mouse. Repeated 3 more times with only getting 1 more mouse. Thought it must be a dud group, because I have grown to TRUST Victor traps over the years. Ordered 2 dozen traps off amazon. Laid out 8, this morning I woke up to 1 dead mouse and 7 licked clean traps. I’m disgusted right now. Victor was the only trap I’ve ever found that reliably worked. Now even they don’t. Is this what business in this world has come to right now? Nobody even knows how to make a mouse trap anymore? How hard is a MOUSE TRAP? This is pathetic. Is this the 1700’s? Does every house have to have a cat at all times in order to avoid having a mouse problem?Read more

I was actually quite excited to receive these traps as they are the ones I remember my parents using as a child HOWEVER, they are junk. I caught 5 mice in less than a week using generic traps (I’m a girl so I’m throwing the entire trap away…not taking the mouse out and re-using). These traps, when they are not falling apart (the piece where you put the cheese or peanut butter keeps falling off), are just horrible. I’ve had the mice steal the peanut butter off several times now. I would give less than one star if I could.Read more

So these are the classic. They’re cheap, they work, they’re easier to set than the slightly newer ones from Victor with the fake yellow cheese instead of the metal trip/bait area. If have mice and you can’t catch mice with these you’re doing something wrong in terms of placement or something. They’re not as easy to set as some of the newer all plastic models so you’ll want to do it pretty carefully and keep your fingers well away from anyplace they could possibly get hit. Actually you should do that on any trap, but especially here.Read more

These traps dont kill mice! I set my traps and the mouse ate the peanut butter off of 5 and didnt get smacked! Not one was set off! I finally had a pest guy come and he said they were un-trippable traps because the way the bell is made to be set. Very unpleased with my purchase.Read more
