The pH pen came with out the calibration solution, but after vigorously researching how to calibrate the TDS&EC Meter I came up with nothing. I tested the EC meter and it was about 100 ppm below the calibration solution at 77°F. The only thing that I could find is that the TDS & EC meter was factory calibrated. ***Would like to update my review*** after receiving a new meter This one is perfectly working great! The customer service was actually awesome, because when I initially gave them a one star rating I was contacted by a representative from the #VIVOSUN and I was offered a new TDS meter for free. It really says a lot about a company that will reach out to their unsatisfied customers for a combo set that cost about $15.Read more

They seem to be really accurate and are still working really well. We have not had a single problem with them and for the price I highly recommend them.Read more

Straight out of the box it’s not calibrated. It reads a mixed up pack of 6.86ph buffer solution as 6.50ph. See my picture. I also tested a glass of water 3 times over an hour and got 3 differient readings. First time it read: 5.52ph Second time it read: 5.69ph Third time it read: 5.72ph It may not seem like much but that can be a BIG difference depending on what youbwere needing an accurate ph reading for. I bought this because if my 2 year old “Jellas” brand was working properly. But it still gives the same read out (6.2ph) as it did a week ago on the same water. I don’t like the style of calibration either. I’ve only ever seen the type where you turn the little screw on the back and dial it to read what the buffer solution should be. How do I know what is pre-programed onto the memory circuit is accurate in the first place? And what if I only have a 4.0ph and a 6.86ph pack of buffer solution? Does that mean I can’t calibrate unless I have all three? Not cool. I like being able to calibrate with just one or two calibration levels, if that’s all I have on hand at the time. I’m going to try another brand.Read more

First the pH meter started blinking out occasionally, then I would only get four zeros instead of a reading, today it finally just stopped working. I am disappointed.Read more

I have used these for decades, always accurate and reliable. I bought this one at the end of April, it started tweaking yesterday, thought just needed new batteries, spent $12 on new batteries today, it’s still tweaking and non functional. Rather pissed off because I really need it. Feeling a bit screwed over, returning period has passed.Read more

I bought these to keep track of ppm and ph specifically and they work great! I use them for exotic gardening and it is extremely important to monitor these things. I have tested both pens, but I use the ph pen every day to make sure that I am at a proper level for nutrient-uptake. I will be using the other pen when it comes time to flush before harvesting time though! Some people get by without using these, but I think they suffer in yield because of it. To maximize potential it is important to pay attention to all details like this. It is not necessary to pay an arm and a leg for an expensive tester for me, so these are the perfect solutions! This is a must-have for any gardener, and I choose to think of it as insurance. If you do not use them, then one small mistake can end up being very costly! For the low price, I recommend everyone to purchase these to be safe versus sorry. PRO’S: * Very easy to use and calibrate * Individual cases for each pen * Low cost * High accuracy CON’S: * Batteries in one pen did not last longRead more

I opened this, calibrated it and it worked once. Tried to calibrate again and readings are all over the place. The same glass of water can read anything from .08 to 9.1 on my other ph meter it’s reading at 6.3 I can’t trust this thing with keeping high value plants alive so it’s worse than worthless. It’s harmful.Read more

The TDS meter reads very quickly the ppm and temp of the water. On the other hand, the pH meter is extremely inaccurate. I have calibrated it with the solution given because it was a bit off out the box. When you first power on the pH meter is will flash different numbers randomly and acts very strange. I don’t know if its suppose to do that on start up but it takes a good 30 secs to get the meter to stabilize to the correct pH and even then its wrong. Both are very easy and simple to use. Just power on and dip into water and wait for the number to become stable. 5 stars for the TDS meter and 0 stars for the pH meter. Since this is a set, I have to split my rating 2.5.Read more

Bought the pH meter/TDS combo pack. pH meter is inaccurate up to 1 point. Cannot calibrate meter using calibration packets provided. Meter calibrates to 6.86 but then immediately afterwards, sees a deviation of up to .3 and the meter never seems to settle on one number, it’s always moving. I never read the same number twice. Calibration stops working as per instructions when doing the 3 step process (on the ~9.18 it always reads low or defaults back to flashing 6.86). Thought it would be good based on the reviews, perhaps I received a dud. Either way, inaccurate pH readings are useless to me.Read more

Oh, where do I even start? The pH meter, despite generous patience, would not calibrate. Other people have reported the same problem with this product. If it had been able to calibrate, the button to calibrate it was so close to the testing button that it would be easy to wipe out the calibratation setting. Instructions also say to submerge the probe to a certain line- which did not exist on the product. Drying the probe was very difficult, and it neeeds to be done after every test. Worst, for an instrument with supposedly 0.01 accuracy, the readings fluctuated widely and would never stabilize. The meter even turned itself off once because it was taking so long to try to get a stable reading. The instructions also state that the meter must be recalibrated under certain circumstances, including lack of use. This requires more testing solution which does not come with the meter. There is also no screw to adjust for various temperatures of calibration solution. Just to top it all off, I had already received the pH Up/ pH Down I had ordered for my hydroponics setup. I had wanted the pH meter to ensure that my pH was accurate with those products was accurate. Without it, I did not want to use the Up/Down. Amazon would not accept the unopened pH adjustment products for return as they were considered hazardous substances that could not be mailed out by me. To get my money back I would have to send the liquids to the seller through the mail to another country.Read more

I have over 20 yrs experience in hydroponics, have used bluelab equipment but those are garbage now… less than a year old both ph and ppm meter went bust… I can’t afford to spend another 300$.. so I thought I could save few bucks and go with some cheaper ones with good company , thought I could count on VIVOSUN equipment , because the vv lighting stuff works great along with their tent, on the other hand unfortunately these meter are garbage meters from wish i do believe with company name… unfortunately those are pure garbage as well!!! Ppm won’t calibrate thus readings are tremendously off as picture shows. As well as the ph meter is very off too. Try to calibrate it to no aveil… that’ll teach me to go cheap… lol never again..Read more

After using the PH meter a few times for about a month it just started getting really hard to get a stable reading. The numbers jump around erratically. I took care of it the way the instruction say. Also, the calibration powders are super hard to find. And end up costing a lot. Vivosun doesn’t sell them. I went to a hydroponics store and the guy couldn’t believe this PH meter didn’t use the standard 4 and 7 PH solution to calibrate too which is available everywhere. It’s a garbage product. The PPM meter seems solid though. I’m giving the 1 star for the PH meter.Read more

I bought this ph digital tester for my cannabis plants but it is no good. I calibrated it exactly as per the instructions but it does not give even close to accurate readings. Plain water is neutral (ph 7) but this reader shows it anywhere from 5.8 to 9, which is ridiculous. To test it I put a spoonful of vinegar in a 1 liter glass jar of plain water, which would make it highly acidic (blow 5) but this thing showed it to be around 7, which is crazy. To be honest I wasn’t expecting this thing to be 100% accurate for the low price, but I was hoping it would at least give me a reasonable reading. I gave it several tries but it was all over the place. Sometimes it would give widely different readings on the same water without making any changes to the water. Next year I am going to splurge and by a more expensive one that will give true readings.Read more
