We have a General Electric refrigerator that has an automatic ice maker. The refrigerator came with a filter that works with the front panel on the door to tell us it needs changing. We went to the store and were floored at the cost! It was $35 at a popular store. We tried other stores with the same shock! Finally, I went on Amazon.com and found an alternative at a fraction of the cost. Well, the flavor of the water,, is not applicable unless you consider that having zero taste is quite tasty and refreshing.,.its great. I live in Florida, since 1982 in various cities. The water here has NEVER tasted good. These filters that screw into a receptacle in the refrigerator are so convenient. When I know it’s time to replace it I drag my feet at the thought of going into a big box store and hunt around for the filter which there is usually one or two if even, they are dusty and so expensive. Suddenly, it dawned on me, “wait, let me check Amazon!” And sure enough I found a package of three which will help me change the filter right on time, have great tasting water at the touch of a button and quick delivery, you can’t beat it. I received my filters the next day. I’m thrilled. When I replace my last one I will pop on amazon and order another three pack. Here’s the best part and most important take away…I am exceedingly concerned about the plastic in the environment and I’m obsessive about recycling (my recycle bin has more refuse that my regular trash bin) but more importantly, as a woman I am particularly concerned about the toxins leached from plastic bottles that my body interprets as estrogens and stored in important fatty areas not to mention the chemicals plastic bottles throw off. I dread the thought of drinking water from a plastic bottle Now my `fridge‘s water AND ice taste good. Get the three-pack, as it is the best value for your money. I typically replace the filter every 60 to 90 days – or when the reminder light comes on. Much less expensive than buying them from Home Depot or Lowe’s. I always write the date on the filter with a Sharpie whenever I replace it. It makes it easier to know when a new one is needed. Installation is a snap. You basically press upwards & twist it about 90 degrees. It will click into place. (Please remember to remove the little plastic seal before doing so.)Read more

I picked up this filter hoping it would save me a few $$$, shortly after installing the filter I noticed an unusual taste and figured if I put a few gal. through the filter, it would go away. After several weeks use not only did the flavor not go away my water started to develop a strong chemical smell. I replaced the filter with stock filters from GE and within min. the smell was gone and the water started to taste normal.Read more

Used these to replace a GE genuine MWF filter in a refrigerator. Fit exactly like the OEM filter and so far has been leak free. Took running a few gallons through it for all the air to come out and carbon element to become saturated. Used a pitcher and kept flushing til the water output was stable and not sputtering. Water tastes the same as the OEM filter and that is good enough for me to stick with these in the future to save a considerable amount of money per filter change.
