We used this product on an 18th-century oil painting portrait. The bottom half looked stained with something white. We couldn’t find cotton wool so we used premium cotton pads, lightly soaked them with the product and padded them lightly throughout the portrait. Not only is the white residue and dust gone but the colors on the painting are brighter. It looks great, took 15 minutes and can now be hung on the wall. It smelled but nothing overpowering. I was worried the smell would linger but I did the cleaning in the morning and by the time the kids came home from school they couldn’t smell a thing. If they did – I would have heard.Read more

Did a decent job on cleaning the whites on my oil painting. The smell was very strong had to use a mask. Didnt like using cotton swabs I found a clean 100% tee shirt did a better job than the cotton. The bottle was very small I will have to buy another to finish cleaning. My painting was 24×30.Read more

Did this turn my 100-year-old “oil painting done by a talented family member but no DaVinci” painting into a brilliant, like new painting that would match a professional restorer’s work? No. But, did it easily and safely clean off all those decades of soot and grime and make the painting look a WHOLE lot better than it did? YES. I chuckled at some of the results – our painting (which I have looked at now for almost 70 years) has a river running through the middle of it. But, who knew there was a little “waterfall” area in the river before we cleaned it??? So, if you’re expecting your oil painting to look like it was professionally cleaned as it might if you spent big bucks to get it done, you will be disappointed. But, for the price, this stuff is great.Read more

This product worked well for cleaning dirty old oil painting. But I had to use in open air and strong odor remained for a couple of days. I left the painting in garage as the smell was too strong to keep in house until it had thoroughly vented.Read more

I can’t imagination life without this now. While some people use this for their oil paintings, I use this on my color pencils to give it a more watercolor painted look. I find it really allows the pigment to soaked in the pages. ~~~~~~Some notes from what I have observed ~~~~~ If you would like your color to spread around more like an oil pastel, use soft color pencil. Hard color pencil does blend into the paper, however there is less pigment to spread around overall. Also depending what you are using the distilled turpentine on, you should debate if you need to use a brush for line textures (examples: tables, trees, long hair). Or even a cotton swab for a more smooth look by circling the pigment around. You can place more color pencil on it once it tries, but that is up to you as artist. Also it smells, but you can work with it (just don’t use too much or leave it open). In the picture i shared, the fish are colored in soft color pencil lead the blue back ground is hard lead. Right below the first present is soft lead with the rocks. When treated the soft lead could run into the hard lead spots with turpentine but barely the other way around.Read more

Though it did clean a little and bring out some of the picture, I had hoped it might have brightened the painting more. But age of the picture did not help (I think 90 years old or more). Had to use plenty of cotton– it did do a decent job though.Read more

Great price, and the only type of turpentine to buy if you are a serious artist. I’ve painted professionally for over 40 years (Tempestportraits.com).Read more

This is perfectly good product which has a very low odour. A a good quality white spirit is just as good but has a high odour. I have to use Sansador with the art class .At home I use white spirit, but always make sure I have ventilation.Read more

I have no problem with the product itself but the packaging was very poor and as you can see from the photo the can was badly dented. The last one I bought, the can was leaking very slightly from the top. I have had soft good far better packaged than this!Read more

This cleans brushes really well. The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is because its so difficult to pour without spillage. If there were a pourer included or even sold separately would definitely buy again.Read more
