PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
ABS recorders are durable and easy to care for while providing a tone similar to that of natural wood. Though other maker’s plastic recorders may have a similar appearance, Yamaha ABS recorders are truly superior instruments. They offer an ideal amount of air resistance for easy control, and feature an accuracy of intonation you would expect to find only on more expensive models. The 20 Series models are easy to play throughout their ranges and are primarily intended for beginners.

CARTGET.COM
This inexpensive 13-inch recorder has surprisingly good sound quality. The cream-colored, plastic instrument easily disassembles into three parts and comes with a canvas carrying bag, simple instructions, and a fingering sheet. –Richard Farr

Pros: * Multiple joints that slide well, easy to tune and adjust pinky holes * Sounds just like I remember from 20 years ago * I learned how to play the Harry Potter song and I can reliably get 70-80% of the notes correct Cons: * My roommates have it made it clear that they don’t think learning recorder is something a grown man should be doingRead more

On a Friday the school sends home a letter that says our kids are going to be learning the recorder and they need to bring one to school… on Monday. I crisis ordered this bad boy. Turns out there’s options for recorders. It’s been a minute since I played the recorder in grade school and I had no idea what I was shopping for. This is it parents! Yamaha is music teacher recommended. This exact one is what my kid’s music teacher said he would have ordered. And prime shipping saved me! It comes with a little bag and so far it has held up well. I’m 90% certain my kid will lose it before the year is up. I’m ordering a spare just in case at this price. Don’t buy the clear/colored ones. I was told they break easily and don’t sound as good.Read more

I remember when I was young my family was so poor, I didn’t have the $1.50 to buy one at school like the other children. I think I was in the second grade and the year was around 1963, my school did let me use one but I couldn’t take it home to practice, it made me feel left out. When I was in high school my Dad got a very good job and I wasn’t the ‘poor’ kid anymore. While looking around Amazon I saw this ‘Recorder’ and bought it. The only reason was because I didn’t have one as a child but I have one now. I also bought one for my Son just for the heck of it :)Read more

I am in awe! I have been playing soprano for over 25 years. I didn’t expect much other than cute and colorful from this recorder because there are some really junky sopranos out there but this one actually sounds great! All the notes are in tune. It has over a two octave range…easily (middle C to high D – above the staff). I have played all kinds of music with this instrument from concertos to jigs and it never faltered. Can’t believe the price! I have been playing the Yamaha YRS-314B for 17+ years and this pink recorder is like a clear pink version. Love it!! Will need the blue and green ones now. Highly recommend.Read more

This instrument has a good sound and is easy to play. It is good for beginners, especially at its price level. It is also very durable. Although I haven’t tried throwing it at the ground, it has fallen a few times (I use it to introduce my baby to musical instruments and she loves making noise on it, though she’s too young to do too much more than that right now).Read more

I’ve ordered one, but it sounded like crap ! The E/F note was half a semi off. Amazon offered a replacement, so I got the replacement. While this one was better than the first one, the tone hole was off again, and was audibly sounding off! While the price and built quality is great, having one tone hole sounding off, isn’t! Unacceptable for Yamaha branded instruments!Read more

Lovely recorder. Perfect for my 5 year old who is starting lessons. I used to play to a high standard and am totally happy with this recorder. Wish they’d looked like this when I was a kid!! Also got one for my 3 year old (in a different colour) and am able to cope when they both ‘play’ (for short periods). It comes with a little clear plasticRead more
